If you have puchased a dog from Wizard of Claws this may be of interest to you:
Media Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PUPPY STORE SUED FOR MISLEADING CUSTOMERS, SELLING SICK PUPPIES
(Pembroke Pines, FL) Two South Florida attorneys have filed a lawsuit on behalf of customers that bought puppies from Wizard of Claws Inc., alleging that the Pembroke Pines pet store defrauds customers by intentionally misrepresenting the origin of the puppies sold, and by selling puppies that suffer from a wide array of health problems, including contagious diseases and genetic disorders.
Although Wizard of Claws has told customers that their puppies were imported from "reputable" breeders in South America, according to the complaint filed yesterday Broward County Circuit Court, in reality the puppies were obtained from large scale commercial breeding facilities in Missouri, commonly known as a "puppy mills", where animal welfare concerns are wholly secondary to profits.
Plaintiff Shannah Diaz of Miami purchased a Maltese puppy, "Prince," from Wizard of Claws on September 6, 2002 for $950.00. Prince suffered from a congenital bleeding disorder, and died from internal hemorrhaging when he was less than a year old. After Prince died, Diaz began to suspect that Prince had come from a puppy mill, and asked a Wizard of Claws. "They assured me that my puppy had come from a reputable private breeder " Diaz .said, "but I later discovered that my puppy had been shipped to Florida from a commercial breeder in Missouri. " Wizard of Claws refused to reimburse any of Diaz's vet bills.
According to the Humane Society of the United States, the documented problems of puppy mills include overbreeding, inbreeding, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of socialization with humans, overcrowded cages, and the killing of unwanted animals. To the unsuspecting consumer, this often means buying a puppy facing an array of immediate veterinary problems or harboring genetically borne diseases that may not be detected until much later.
Wizard of Claws, which claims to specialize in "tiny, tea-cup size puppies" sells puppies from its Pembroke Pines store and over the Internet. Plaintiff Mary Ibarra of San Antonio, Texas ordered an English Bulldog from Wizard of Claws, and knew that something was very wrong with her new puppy moments after "Gracie" arrived from at the San Antonio International Airport. Gracie, who had received a clean bill of health from Wizard of Claws veterinarian of choice Dr. Jan Bellows, walked on her wrists and she kept falling down on her back legs. Gracie was soon diagnosed as suffering from severe hip dysplasia with early onset arthritis. Gracie's hip sockets are so bad that they do not have a cup to hold the ball of the joint, and she needs at least two surgeries. If the surgeries are not successful Gracie will have to be euthanized. Wizard of Claws refuses to assist with the costs of the surgeries, or to even reimburse the $1200.00 Ibarra paid for the pup.
The lawsuit, which alleges fraud, breach of warranty and multiple counts of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, asks that the plaintiffs be reimbursed for the purchase price of their puppies as well as the veterinary expenses incurred as a result of the purchase an unhealthy pup.

thats horrid the way they are selling those pups, but what is so wrong with a white dobermann?
Rox

If you do a search on here about White Dobermanns, or on google, you'll find lots of info about the health problems they frequently suffer from.

$5,000 for a tiny yorkie?!?! It would have to be some muppet who paid that!
Shar-pei's and Bulldogs aren't covered under their guarantee as they suffer from too many health problems!
Sounds like a very good place to buy a pup from!
Char
White Dobermanns are actually albinos with all the health conditions associated with this problem.
Wizard of Claws is well known to the Dobe Fraternity in the USA - sadly
Christine

Naive and stupid would be owners should also take some of the blame .

When they would rather risk a dog suffering potential health problems because it is more a fashion accessory an they fail to do any research whatsoever!
mini mini bull terrier $3,500
yorkie $5,000
maltese $4,000
teacup poodle $2,500
labradoodle $1,500
shih tzu $1,850
just showed my dad and he is outraged he is going to email them and tell them what he thinks of them

Wow! Look at those prices! And to think there are people stupid enough to pay! As they say, there's a fool born every minute.

Imagine all the people out there paying $1,500 for a cross-bred ( no offence to Labradoodle owners or any other cross-bred dog owner) but if they go to the nearest dog shelter they can get a dog just as cute, and as loving, they would be saving a life, and it would cost much less. I think the people who buy puppies from this site don't know much about dogs.

P.S. Did you see how scared some of the puppies were?

what I dont understand is that all the books I have read and all the sites I researched tell you to stay well clear of anyone selling white dobermanns. Why are people not doing more research before they buy a pup? If people did then they wouldnt want to buy from people like this, as long as they can get idiots to buy from them then they will keep selling them.
some people just want something to show off with

I dont understand that, my baby is 14weeks and is the most beautiful girl ever(my very unbiased opinion he he) I cant understand why anyone would want a dog with so many problems I think the way to go is to education. When I was looking for a puppy someone told me about a place near us that sells all sorts of puppies luckily I knew better so I think maybe a visit is required, not to cause trouble(i will bring O.H. with to keep me calm) but to point out to people wishing to buy, that the puppies probably came from a puppy farm any may have all sorts of health problems and that their best bet would be to find a breeder who cares about the puppies more than the money. The perfect puppy is well worth the wait.
What I've done before, at a pet shop that (used to) sell pups, was when people were looking at the pups for sale, tell them that these most likely came from a puppy farm, and when they get home to type into a search engine on the internet "puppy farm/mill" and see what it came up with. About a week after telling someone to do this, I saw them again in the street and they thanked me for making them realise what an unhealthy pup they could be buying and how they would have been adding to the problem. The sites on the internet have really good information about puppy farms and it will proove to potential buyers what they may be getting.

terrible thing breeding for colour! In the Irish staffs, the blue dogs have become very popular, because of their eyecatching colour. as a result, they are being inbred and pumped out like wildfire by the peddlers. and although there are no direct health problems associated with the blue colour, the constant inbreeding has resulted in weak nerved dogs, lacking substance. 10 years ago Id see a dog from these lines and think, nice dog, and watch it win a weight pull with ease, but today, they make my skin crawl, cringing and lifeless "pretty" things on a lead. Cant remeber the last time a saw one win a pull!
One sure way to ruin a dog is to breed for the freak and fancy :(

These dealers have been selling poor deformed dogs for a long time but you try telling people that tea cup dogs are not the norm and will not live long they just dont take any notice, and i do know that some one in this country is now breeding tea cup breeds so some one will be making alot of money.

Sickening - can you see how ill and frail they all look? Miniature? I wonder if theyre standard sizes just 3-4 weeks too young :(
If you look at the so called "exceptional" male Boxer pup too - he's gorgeous bless him, but looks half APBT to me! And the ear crops (as much as I hate them anyway) are abysmal.
Poor, poor, poor bloody dogs. When are they going to put a ban on breeding for profit? :(

What a dreadful site. The sort of person who wants a dog that can fit into a teacup shouldn't be allowed a computer, never mind a dog. :(
