Hello All

Me and my girlfriend really need some advice, we have a 12 week old West Highland Terrier puppy. We've had him for 4 weeks now and everything has been fine.

But today when he had a poo this morning i noticed that there was a small amount of what looked like thin blood.
After he did it he still seemed his normal self, running about, chewing everything in sight and barking, so we waited untill he went to the toilet again to see if it happened again.

He has just been to the toilet again and there was a very very small amount of what looks like blood again, but it is a lot better than the one earlier ? Im not sure whether to get him down the vets or if this could be a normal problem with a young pup ????

Any advice ??????????

Please help.

regards Simon And Laura

Others may say different but if it was me I think I'd wait and just keep an eye on him for now as he's otherwise happy. Obviously if it carries on for a while, gets worse or he starts feeling poorly then you should get him checked out. :)

i think you should bring him to the vet as soon as possible to be on the safe side .

Hi Laura and Simon

What worming regime is your puppy on?   I think you should check it out with your vet, but would think it is PROBABLY to do worms!!

Hi,
We have a 4 month old westie who had the same problem at about 10 weeks old. Our vet advised us to divide daily meal allowance into 5 meals per day. Little tummies and bowels cope better on smaller more frequent meals solved our problem within 24 hours. Hope this helps.
