Wonder if anyone could let me know if they have had success in using either a 'Gencon' or a 'Col-leash'? I have a two year old Golden Retriever bitch who can be very difficult on the lead as she is so determined to pull me everywhere. I have tried a Halti but as much as I have tried to get her used to it, she just will not accept it and continually pulls it off. Having looked back through topics re: Haltis, I noticed a couple of people mentioned these alternatives. Rather than rush out to buy one of these I would be grateful if anyone who has found that the Halti did not work for their dog but either the Gencon or Col-leash did, could let me know of their experiences.
Many thanks.
I'm not sure what a col-leash is, sorry! Have had two dogs that were fine with Haltis, but my youngest dog now (20 months), has never got used to it - tried every way! He now has a Kumfi stop-pull harness, and it's great. When I take him out on his own, he is fine on just collar and lead, but if I have my other dog as well, it's like a competition who can get ahead the quickest! With the harness on, he just walks normally!

We purchased two GENTLE CONTROLLERS at a dog show at Wood Green recently - found that they were far easier to put on than the gentle leaders (bearing in mind the fact that we have Aussies, who have lots of fur around their necks) and that we did have control over two exuberant adolescent dogs, that the following day, at another show, we bought another two! They are excellent, and as far as we are concerned, one advantage is that you don't have to sort out which collar/lead goes with which dog as they slip *& adjust to each dog each time. They don't mind them as much as the gentle leader - and they don't ride up to their eyes as does the gentle leader if not adjusted properly.

Hi
My daughter has a Border Collie (rescue) who was awful on the lead. She would not walk to heel but pulled ahead and tried to dart into the road to 'herd' traffic. My daughter tried all different kinds of leads, haltis etc but only got success on a Gentle controller (Gencon).
I don't need them for my own dogs but I keep both a Gencon and col-leash for training difficult dogs and find that dogs accept them more readily than head collars.

Hi again
Can you tell me what the difference is between the 'Gentle Controller' and the 'Gencon'? On the 'Doggie Solutions' site they are listed as 2 different products but sound much the same? I think my dog would probably like a harness better but although a lot of people have said the 'Kumfi stop-pull' harness is great, some have said that their dogs do eventually learn to pull on one of these as well! I know that if I thought a harness would work I would prefer to use one rather than a headcollar but I could just see my dog putting her shoulders into it and pulling away as usual!
As far as I know there is no difference between the Gentle Controller and Gencon.
I've used a body harness for one of my dogs in the past and they can still pull on them. they don't seem to be able to on a headcollar because as they go forward and reach the end of the lead the tension turns the dog's head back towards the owner stopping them from surging on.
From what I've seen the Gentle controller is kinder to wear than a Halti as it doesn't ride up into the dog's eyes.
