Did anyone else hear about the rescue centre in Manchester asking people to foster dogs just for the xmas period.
Apaprently they've had ana amzing response and wont have any dogs in kennels over xmas
Am sure the dogs'll love it but just real sorry for them when they have to go back in.
Maybe they're hoping people will get attached and keep them

thats a really clever idea, maybe its so people dont go out and buy a new pup for xmas, and yes maybe people will get attached and keep them. :)

yeah they said that, that they hoped it would stop people going out and buying a puppy on a whim!!!!

Is that the dogs home that the city council is holding a huge fireworks display next door to on New Years eve ?? there was a big uproar about it maybe thats why they are fostering out the dogs. I could be wrong though ...... maybe that was birmingham

Claire (who had a tad too much to drink last night and is feeling a little jaded  )
I hope this gets rolled out nationwide. What kind of checks do they do on fosterers? Id like to do it but think Im not experienced enough, same as breed rescue.

Not sure hwta checks they're doing to be honest. I know they started taking in applications quite a while ago though.
Doubt they did homechecks or anything, just checked ID and addresses etc.
ITs good socialisation for the dogs though which is brilliant.

As far as i know manchester dogs home does not carry out home checks, however rescue places and the rspca does
