Take him to the vet for his first visit as soon as you can. All puppies should be checked by an independent person as soon as possible after rehoming, and at your pups very young age this is even more important. The vet will be able to advise you when to bring him back for his first of the course of injections.

When did the breeder tell you he was last wormed? Pups are usually wormed at 2 weeks, 5 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, every month till they are 6 months, then every three months thereafter.

Jeangenie thanks for the reply, when i got the pup the owner said its not been wormed or anything. so i was just wondering when i should take him.

If he hasn't been wormed at all yet (whyever hasn't the breeder done this? ) then take him to the vet first thing tomorrow to get this done (the worming medicines you can buy in the petshops just aren't efficient enough). It really is a matter of urgency that this be done as soon as possible. The vet will know the most suitable product and the right dosage.

Good luck.

Jeangenie is right, your puppy is very young to have left his Mum, so get him checked over by a vet & worm him as soon as possible. If he should have a bad infestation of worms ( most puppies have some, but if he hasn't been done at all he could have quite a lot) it could make him quite ill if he doesn't have treatment.

I would be VERY concerned about this breeder.  To not have wormed a pup and then sold it at 6 weeks all seems very worrying.  How did you find this breeder?  A quick visit to the vet is the best idea, but I think the pup needs to be at least 8 wks before give innoculations as it should still carry protection from its mothers antibodies at this young age.
