All I would give her for pain relief until you see the vet (and I would say that she should see the vet ASAP) would be Rescue Remedy and Arnica.   Neither of these will interfere with any medication that the vet may prescribe, and will help in the meantime.

You could try wrapping the leg in an elastic bandage - but I would strongly advise seeing the emergency vet in the morning.   Hope all goes well.

How is she this morning?

The arnica will help reduce any bruising so if you can get some I highly recommend it.

Hi Sarah

If she is still limping this morning or at all subdued or flinces when yo touch her leg then ring your vet.  He is the best one to give you advice.

Broken bones are not always obvious (ie sticking out).  When my Rio broke a bone in his foot a few weeks ago he was very subjdued the evening he did it but not lame - I thought he had injured his stomach.  Next day he was lame and I took him to vet as I had realised it was his lower leg/foot bothering him and he had broken a bone, from top to bottom in a spiral shape and has only recently had the plaster removed.

she is still limping :( she has started to put a little bit of weight on it though. the only problem is that she's gone back to her usual hyperactive self and i'm worried that she's going to hurt it further. we need her better for tuesday because she's coming to my parents with me for christmas and i want her to be able to play with their dogs - she adores them.

the vet is only emergency only today (why do they always get poorly at the weekend ?) should i still contact them ?

thanks for all the advice, am going to tescos to try and get her some arnica soon :)

Sarah - do you use a crate?   If so, try and keep her confined in the crate until she has seen the vet.

Hope that she is ok

Sarah,

Please take her to the vet, she may have broken or fractured her leg.  At that age the growth plates are especially vulnerable and she may have pushed one out of place or fractured it.  If it is left damaged and the bone continues to grow she could end up with a crippled leg.

I don't mean to scare you, but it is better to be safe than sorry.  Especially when they are young bones grow and fuse so quickly - any delay could mean unnecessary complications.

just got back from the vets, lily was super happy due to her favourite nurse being there !

the vet said she's either badly bruised of possibly broken her fibula but it should heal on its own. i've got some pain killers for her for if it gets bad too

she's now sleeping in front of the fire on a pillow :)

oh and an added bonus - i got to meet 4 brand new hamster sized puppies !

Likewise, I can't imagine such tiny pups! I'm used to newborns about 7 inches long.
