owning 4 dogs ,humans and dogs living together ,having a dog is the happiest occasion of my life from my experience when you reach 4  dogs it does get like a pack in my house, the pack leader is very important (me i hope ) ,all possesions belong to me ,i provide all the food if i stick to those rules my little yorkie family will not have to many  problems after 10 years i have learnt a few things.

I have 7 house dogs and am sure they believe we are all part of a pack with me at the head of the pack, I get to keep warmest coz I call them up on my knee, lot cheaper than central heating 3 schips on you is lovely and cozy, the next to youngest likes to sit on the foot rest, helps keep my feet warm too.

As long as you and your dogs are happy together it doesn't really matter if you believe in the dominance/pack theories or not, we all have our own way of doing things and so the dogs.

We have only 1 dog but Im not sure he thinks of us humans as "pack". Hes too intelligent to think of us as bald 2 legged dogs. He is aware of peoples different roles in the family though and responds to the kids differently from us adults. , more playful and vocal with them and looks to us to confirn the kids are telling him to do the right thing. He reacts differently and faster to other dogs than us, sort of like people speaking more loudly and slowly to foreigners. At the end of the day were all family.

Hi Jacki, well dogs are not solitary creatures & don`t do well without companionship of some sort, be it human or animal :) They`ve learned to adapt extremely well, so if they`re with human companship they see that as their pack. Now who the pack leader is depends ;) There are times with my lot when I`m not so sure who`s leading who!!!! :D :D
