Hi yesterday I gave my lab a bone he took it in to the garden and dug a hole put the bone in it and then push the mud over the bone with his nose.I have seen him do this before with food. Can any one tell my why he is doing this!!!
He is probably saving it for later. Not uncommon for dogs to bury food when they don't want/need it at the time. My bitches tend to do this when they have "phantom" pups

Perfectly normal - saving it for any lean times ahead!! I had a bitch who used to bury things in plant pots - indoors :D. She also rubbed her nose raw trying to bury things under the carpet.:(
lily has a thing about duvets, i keep finding biscuits glued to my duvets... oh and my expensive coat ! :D

Just had to add......when we pulled the presents from under the christmas tree on Thursday I found a half eaten prawn cracker from the chinese we'd had a couple of nights earlier. Also once found a tripe stick in my hand bag.
The funniest thing is when they try and bury their treats in 'imaginary dirt' and are basically pushing their nose along in mid air!

This is normal so dont worry about it. When my dog was a puppy, i gave him a sausage that was still a little hot. He burried it then dug it back up after it had cooled down!
Agree with what's been said - its normal!
Mine used to push biscuits into corners of the lounge with his nose and leave them for later when he'd be hungry. He also pushed bones around the garden to 'safe' places for later. He'd push things around til his nose was sore but he did grow out of it eventually.
