Keep on hearing about this and just wanted to know where you can buy it from ?
Also can you put it onto the dog itself ( ie foot or elsewhere) or is it just to keep the dog away from furniture etc ??

You can buy Bitter Apple or bitter sprays at most any pet shop or large online supplier. I would not spray it on the dog, because it may dry the coat and isn't meant for them. There are topical sprays for dogs you can buy that are okay to spray on them, usually they have something to sooth the skin and they have a bitter taste if chewed. If you want to stop foot chewing, if your pet shop does not have a spray I would ask the vet.
Bitter apple does not work on all dogs. Mine actually likes the taste.

Used bitter apple spray with my first Aussie - he used to chew the dining table legs, but he still did it just the same after we put the spray on! The dog I have now has got allergy (skin) problems, so there is no way I would put it on his legs or anywhere in case it aggravated things.

I like Leo Laboratories "Bitter Spray" It is only available from vets but it is very good for chewing and is also safe on open wounds to stop dogs licking. I'm never without it.
Best wishes, John
Hi John,
Haven't heard of that one, only the 'furniture' one - would it be safe to use on a dog with skin allergy problems do you think?

Obviously thats no a question I can say "Yes" to Hilda because it would depend on the allergy but I will say that it would be the one I'd try first. I personaly have used it on open and stiched wounds quite a few times over the years. Their place is near me and I used to know their transport manager. He was a working trials man with GSD's
Best wishes, John
Thanks John,
might be worth a try if this flares up again after the course of steroids is finished!
