Hi everybody,
as I can't seem to sleep tonight my thoughts have been turning to Christmas presents for the poochies.  What are you getting for yours?  I'm a bit stuck for ideas this year.  Normally we get them a big rawhide bone each, but I thought a change is in order.  Please, let's have some ideas.  Only 3/4 shopping days left 'til Christmas.

All ours get a new toy each and 3-4 big long chews to eat that day.

My 2 are having, a doggie stocking each (found some really good ones) A filled hoof each, to keep them quiet while the children unwrap prezzies & for one of them she's got 2 new toys. (other dog thinks toys are rubbish! & wouldn't play with toys at all)
snoopy.
My 2 cats have got a new bed each & a stocking.

Hi snoopy,

we've never had filled hooves.  What are they filled with and do they splinter?  I take it you would recommend them.  We have a Dachsie pup and a Large Munsterlander.  What stockings did you get?

GL - filled hooves are great, I'm not sure what they're filled with to be honest, but it can only be described as yummy brown smelly stuff! they don't splinter & last for ages, (even for a greedy bullmastiff - it'll keep her quiet for a long time) They are highly recommended by my dogs!
The stockings I got from Wilkinsons - they were their own make & were great value for money with a good toy & a few nice chews & some biscuits (no choccie drops, like most have in!)

Gone a bit OTT this year but only because it's Dizzy's first christmas :o

They've both got new collars, leads, balls on ropes, pigs ears, squeaky toys, kongs and doggy treats :D

I've also got a clicker in my own stocking so there's some extra attention and training for them too :) :) :)

Hi again, everyone

Keep 'em coming.  Lots of good ideas so far.  Wishfairy, a bit OTT?  The piggy ears are a good idea for 5 minutes peace on Christmas morning.
here's hoping for more ideas!

Hi

I've finally broken and brought Sal a couple of presents ;)

A couple of smoked bones. A couple of footballs (cheapo ones) because she kills them in record time now.
And a new bed.

Hi Karen,
well it is Christmas.  Have a nice one!

Sorry folks, but I think the best Christmas present for gundogs would be getting up early regardless of the weather and taking them for a jolly good walk in the woods - preferably with plenty of water about.  Now that, I am sure, they would really thank you for.  Failing that, take them shooting on Boxing Day!

Hi MB,
I think big long walks go without saying, Christmas or not.  I'm sure you feel the same.

ps. As for getting up early, the kids see to that!

Well I'd just like to say Santa was mugged coming back from Pet City today (the smell of smoked bones) was to much and Sal is now happily gnawing away at the bone :D

As you say it's Christmas.

But I'm holding out with the bed and footballs.......Oh YES I am ;)

I'd like to see anyone try to come in between Sal and her long walks Santa or no Santa :D

They'll have me for 5 whole days without me being in work, what more could they ask for!!  We'll be off out (those that aren't in season of course) on boxing day and then we'll go to the pub for quick drink before going back home.

Heehee
I'm the same Karen. Finally bought Gus a rawhide chew (it's the first time I've ever allowed him rawhide) and it's kept him quiet all night . Will have to go and buy a replacement now!! :D
He's also got a couple of chewy toys , a HUGE chew bone ,some pigs ears and an England top to keep him warm and Noodles has a new bed in the shape of a little red house .
So they will both be thoroughly spoilt!!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone,
Hope you have a lovely holiday.  Thank you for all the great gift ideas and we will certainly be trying a few new things this year.

Well the bitch that had gastric torsion will have her first half day beating on Boxing day so thats the best Christmas present we can all have. Then we're beating the next day(obviously not with her), then Monday, then Thursday, then Saturday so their pressy's last for ages.
