one of the new owners of my pups came to see the pups last week and they were talking to my mum about the pedigree (i was at work) they mentioned that their previous lab had a lot of some particular line told my mum what it was and wanted to know what tess' line is, mum said when they next come along to talk to me about it as she doesnt know anything about the lineage, so my ? is as i have been wracking my brain and every resource that i can think of to try and find this name as mum said no to all the ones i could think of and find, mum said she think it had 'mill' some where in it and that the name they mentioned began with an 's' she didnt ask whether it was work or show lines, but it is bugging me as i cant think, they are coming round monday to take photos let the kids meet the pup etc so i can ask them then but in the mean time any ideas?????

Manymills was the afix of the late Susan Scales who working labradors were superb. Susan Scales wrote the "Bench and Field" column in Dog World for many years.

Don't know if this will help or not but you could have a search around on here and see if anything rings a bell ?

cant remeber the name but it was similar to stratsfieldsaye :)
- By John [gb] Date 22.12.03 21:26 UTC
I really don't know what it could be. Stratfieldsaye is as you no doubt know, the Duke Of Wellington's Affix but I cant think of anything which is similar to that but includes Mills.

Sorry, John

As a longshot, what about Seanbaile? Say Baile and Mill?? Could sound similar??
- By gundogsrbest [gb] Date 22.12.03 21:34 UTC
that sounds similar to what they told me, they were so excited to see pup they were talking really fast :) so were abit hard to understand what they were saying

My Anna's sire was Baildonian Baron Of Craighorn who's sire was Gillmhor Arrow Of Pocklea. Behind him is six generations of Seanbaile. When you imagine that Baron was runner up in the IGL Retriever Championship (1999 I think) you can appreciate they are a good working line.

Best wishes, John
