I phoned my old workplace today to check the price of their puppy food, as i was about to go i was told that they had some bad news for me, they went 'its chloe' (chloe is my tessas mum, i always said to them when she is retired and put for rehoming let me know as i want her, she was the hardest to leave when i left there), my first thought was that she had been rehomed and they hadnt told me, they then went 'its not good, she had to be pts' my heart went to my throat and i choked as i asked why what was wrong, the answer came 'she was fine on hte friday, saturday she was really ill so was taken to vets, the vet phoned sunday said that they didnt think she was going to last another night so the vet was asked to end her suffering' i asked what was wrong she had cancer she was only 6 and i am totally gutted as i feel that i left her, i hadnt been to see her for a while either as it was so hard every time leaving her :(
So sorry to hear about Chloe. Dont beat yourself up about not seeing her for a while, you decided not to visit often to spare both of you distress. Sudden deaths are very hard for those left behind, but try to think of her as waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge or even just in the next room as in the poem.
