i have just been told by the post office, that the cerificate of posting,or proof of posting will be phased out,i asked what would be taking over instead,
here goes.
you can pay for recorded delivery and the person signs for it at the end of its journey.
or you can bring the envelope in with only the name and adress on the envelope you must NOT PUT A STAMP ON IT YOURSELF, the person at the post office will stamp and give you a receipt on the receipt it will say number of items one (etc) and then the postcode to where it is going to and that is all.
I don't know if other people knew about this or am i the only one.

Out of interest Dizzy, why did you not do it online through Fosse Data.  I received a e.mail back straightaway which is your receipt.

I read somewhere that even Royal Mail do not know about them not doing proof of posting anymore.  Seems it's an urban myth.

There is nothing on the Royal Mail website and a friend of mine who works in the POst Office knows nothing about PoP being stopped :)

I've only entered on line once and it was a complete cock-up. Never again!!!

It's taken me 2 days to enter crufts but I've finally managed it, site went down twice, then for the payment damn thing got error pages - I'm just hoping my bitch has finished her season by the time crufts comes round otherwise that's £20 down the pan lol.

Have you had you E-Mail acknowledgement? That is exactly what happened with my Border Union entry and I got no passes til I phoned Fosse, then on arrival, no benches or ring numbers, though at least I was in the catalogue with a number the same as previous exhibitor, but A behind it!!!
- By Schip Date 22.12.03 23:29 UTC
Yes I've got my copy of the email and printed one out just to be sure, that was how I knew I'd finally managed to get the damn thing completed, not sure that I'm going to try it this way again unless I'm too sick to post it.

I know that some post offices who have the newer machines don't use the old 'certificate of posting' anymore, there is a space on the receipt for them to write the info where it's going to and stamp over it as proof - this is the same thing.  I wonder if that's what they meant?

had to post on xmas eve, and they gave me a till receipt and the amount that was on it and the post code it was going to.
But my main post office they still have certificate of postings and i got about 100 of them off them, and they confirmed that once all stocks are being used, the new system will come into force.
