Does anyone have any experience of kennel cough during pregnancy and possible affects on the unborn pups? Our Westie picked up kennel cough at about 2 weeks into pregnancy. The vet prescribed Synulox which was stated as being suitable for a pregnant bitch. Having completed the course of treatment she now seems fine again. The vet seemed none too concerned for the pups but we are still worried.
Dont know about the kennel cough itself, but Synulox is safe for pregnant and feeding bitches.

Interestingly my youngest sister was born with a cleft palate which the doctors said may have been attributable to my mother having flu in the first couple of months of her pregnancy!
I suppose any illness is a risk in early pregancy, but you will soon know if there are any problems and as you can't do anything about it, I shouldn't worry too much. However in the meantime I would read up on care of new-born puppies or 'neonates' as they call them to minimise the risk of them fading if they have been affected in any way.
Try this page on chihuahuas which is very good: http://www.geocities.com/raes_designs/neonates.htm
I have over the years known several pregnant bitches with KC. I treat them with synulox or Benylin & give honey! Never caused any probs to unborn babies. :)
