I am on pins and needles waiting to here from my breeder. She said the pups are due to be whelped on the 15 of this month so basically anyday now. I have sent in my deposit for a show quality bitch. Is this normal to be so excited over a birth of a litter? I have always had rescue pups and they were always mixes so they cost little to nothing. I have never spent so much money before on a dog. I will be getting my little girl when she is eight weeks old. She is a white German Sheperd is anyone was wondering. Anyway back to biting my nails and anciously waiting.

yes its always so magical, except when things dont go right :(
I hope you do realise that a White German Shepherd can never be a show quality puppy, and you have not paid over the odds for her.
I am very surprised at anyone taking deposit before the litter is born, so many things can go wrong, is the deposit returnable?
Still wish you luck with your new pup.

Deposit is returnable but I am the second in line for a white bitch. The money is also transferable to the next litter if I don't like any of the ones in the litter. I have checked all her references and have also contacted my other people that I found out had a pup from her. Her dogs are show but in specialty classes. She and other breeders like her are pushing hard to get the white sheperd regognized agian in shows. She takes deposits now because of the demand she has for puppies and makes sure she has homes lined up for all the pups. I couldn't believe all the questions she had for me. She even offers rebates for achievements the pup has later on in life. For example she offers a 20 dollar rebate if my furture pup gets her CGC. She has many other rebates. She says this is one of her incentives to make sure the pup gets put into training. She says research into homes can only go so far. But she still wants to know her dogs are going to be trained. Plus she comes with one of the best contracts I have ever seen. All her breeding dogs are champions in several areas and have had all the health checks. Her dogs have gone on to work in search and rescue, police work, assistance work and so on. I made sure I did my homework.
One thing I found really cool from pictures and from what others have described to me is the puppy play area with a huge puppy jungle gym type thing. Where they can climb through tunnels and for the older dogs they have logs to jump on and lots of shaded areas to sleep. They have tons of toys out in this area. She also does the temperment test with the pups. If I am going to pay good money for a pure bred pup I want to make sure I am getting a top quality dog. And from all the research I have done of her her dogs are some of the best.
I am just so excited. I watch my email like a hawk waiting to find out that the pups are born. Christmas will come early for me with the announcment of their birth and then agian late when we get our girl. Happy Holidays

How exciting! I have a 1 year old longcoat coloured GSD girl.
I belong to the White and Long Coat Shepherd Society, and gosh there are some gorgeous white dogs about. I see you are in the States. Recognition for White and Long Coat GSD's is being sought over here too. In the meantime the WALCSS organise their own rallies and shows which are huge fun.
Good luck!

Hey :D
Good to see some more people taking interest in the WGSD I have a 10 month old male and he is my baby, you are so right to be excited :)
Well done for doing your research I can tell your girl will be going to a good home.

My girl will be a short coated one. Because she will be doing a lot of assistance work and indoors alot then the short coat is just much better and easier to keep clean. She will have to have a bath every time I know that I am going somewhere where there is food like restraunts and grocery stores. Plus she will be getting a weekly bath just to keep her clean because she will be going into places of business. I sure wouldn't want a dirty dog in my store. So as you can see the short coat is better for me. She will also be put into agility once the vet gives me the go ahead for her joints and everything to be able to handle the obstacles. Plus we want to put her in flyball and some other fun activities. Partially to give her a ton of fun experiences and also to help me to handle being around people agian. I love the long coated dogs though. They have this teddy bear quality. One thing I like about by breeder is that she also breeds for the smaller dog. Since mine will be going into public I don't want a 100 pound dog or bigger because some might be fearful. Her females rarely get to be bigger than 65 pounds. So they are smaller and less intimidating. Anyway thanks for your reply. Happy holidays

I am so happy. The pups were born on the 11th of this month. 2 females and 3 males. All are very healthy and doing fine. She will be doing the personatlity test and posting pictures when they are 6 weeks old. Now as my husband says my excitement level has gone into over time. Wait till he sees how I am the day we pick her up. LOL

Congratulations, Isabeau :) Is your user name a clue to the pups name?

No. My little girls first name will be the kennels. The second name has to start with an O. I am thinking of Ostara meaning German goddess of spring, or Ora meaning light. I would love any other suggestions for an O name. I like uncommon names that have a meaning.
