How did you all do at the show?  And how did you Dogue de Bordeaux's do too?

Heather who is only 13 got PBIS with Shim our 10 month old GWP.
I thought it was a marvellous show, very well run and the commoitte were excellent. Most polite and efficient. Considering there were nearly 1500 dogs entered they had finished around 4. Lots of people were really nice to Heather when she won so as you can imagine she was over the moon. Well done to Boston !!

I cannot believe that !!

At Newark, in winter no-one EVER freezes. :D  :D  :D

Seriously it was not quite as cold as we expected. In fact Richard suggested that it was nice enough to be outside - I think he was joking but I am not sure.

We were in the main ring so maybe that was a little warmer than some of the outer halls (sheds).

In the bordeaux class's there some very interesting placeing there was a world champion that was brought over from Holland that was placed 4th in his class and a Dutch champion that was placed 3rd, the judge seemed to be going for the smaller dogue's.There was a great deal of debate with the douge's from the continent being placed so low and when we are being judged by the FCI standard. It was great to see so many Bordeaux in one place it is not common with us only haveing import class's.There was 49 Dogue's in the junior class and we were judged in 2 halves 4 dogs been picked from the first selection then been judged against the pick from the second set.

There was an excellent turnout at the molosser show 80+ Dogue de Bordeauxs entered under a well respected u.k. judge Mrs Zena Thorn-Andrew .On the day she was obviously looking for well balanced and correct Dogue de Bordeauxs, not small .that are within the standard of the f.c.i. and u.k. standard. The breeed are Dogue de Bordeauxs not Neopolitan Mastiffs which unfortunatley some are resembling these days. There was a reserve world champion there and dutch champions, just goes to show huge is not always best.Infact in Holland at the moment a breeder of world champions is infact campaigning a u.k. bred Dogue de Bordeaux and is winning every show overseas he is very typical of the Dogue de Bordeaux that won at the molosser show.
It was a good day for the Dogue de Bordeaux breed as one won the import register group, and a female Dogue de Bordeaux female won Best in SHow at a companion show running alongside the molosser show with 46 entries in this which was predominatley entries of Dogue de Bordeauxs.
Both winners were Dogue de Bordeauxs bred from the same kennel of Bugene.

It's funny that you mention Neopolitan Mastiff's.  I was at a vets last week and this dog came in that was a Dogue de Bordeaux in the head but I wasn't sure about the rest so I thought that he was a cross DDB, it turned out that he was a Neopolitan Mastiff, the ears, the eyes etc. were more DDB, not that I'm very well up on the breed, but we have a Neo next door and she's nothing like it.

It's great to hear that so many of you were able to go to this show, I wish I'd been there but unfortunately I was in Spain instead :d

hi ,
we had a great day at boston with our dogue's,jambo our 6 month old pup was entered in the junior class of 42 with 8 absentee's,he was pulled out to the last eight, although he was'nt placed in the final placing's we where really pleased as this was only his second show,we then entered him in the puppy class of the companion show, where he was placed 1st and then he was awarded best puppy in show,so all in all we had a great day
