So a castrated male cant tie??
Charley xx

Yes, we said a castrated male can mate and tie. But it is unusual. It's unlikely the bitch is pregnant, but it's possible he still has sperm in his tubes. So separate them now, don't let them mate any more, and take the bitch to the vet in the morning for advice on the best way to stop any possible pregnancy.
My vet informed me that a bitch should be safe if "caught" by a castrated dog, 2 weeks after castration. Never had it happen before, so don't know if it's true? I would imagine she would be okay, as with castration, surely he would not be producing sperm???

Gosh...such conflickting advice.....what an I to think.....I would have thought after 3 months. no "fertile" sperm would be present.

Don't forget he could also pass on an infection, or injure himself or her.

Agree with JG, why didn't you separate them when you found out he would still perform, he is likely to continue to do this so you will have to keep them apart when she is in season, only difference is should someone leave the door open it will not cause her to be in whelp. Forget if he is still fertile and stop them risking hurting one another, each penetration carries with it a risk of infection to either dog or physical injury.

"They have tied 3 times"
Did it not occur to you to take action to stop this behaviour after the first time? The bitch could get a womb infection, which if not treated could make her seriously ill or even kill her. Do you really want to risk this? Is this your dogs we are talking about or dogs that you walk?

Yep, they can and they will!
My dog Rocky will...........the first time was the day after his stitches came out.........i thought it was cos it was so soon after he was done......He did it again the next time Saffi came into season as well..again my fault, blinked i think that time!
Now i know, i keep him well away from any in season bitches. Thankfully i have no bitches here now!

A dog can still make a bitch pregnant, 6-8 weeks after castration :)
