Any bulldog owners out there who can recommend a really good Bulldog friendly vet in the West Mids or nearby county. I have already been recommeded one on another site (in Burton on Trent), but I thought I would ask on here first before going to have a look.
After my local vet expressed a concern that my puppy has a slight underbite (!!!) I am hurriedly looking around for a better one!

Or if you are that worried about her slight underbite, you could ask to be refered to the Willows vetinary referral centre (in Solihull) by your own vet, my eldest bully had to have a steel plate fitted in her hips after a fall, and they treated her there and they were excellent, but your little girl is still very young, she has plenty of time to mature yet, and this normally corrects itself as they grow and mature, most normal vets know nothing about bulldogs, so they dont even know what they are talking about.

I miss living in Birmingham, as its so close to some of the best vets around.  See if any of those i mentioned can help, Tom Bingham is a Bulldog Specialist and the vet in Penkridge is, try those to first if you get no joy (am sure you will though) i will send you a list of some others.

Can't fault Willows - my 3 dogs and cat are all with them.  I know they receive referrals from all over the country and it's not unusual when checking in to be behind someone who has just driven up from Cornwall.  They also receive referrals from Zoo's and the odd Panther has been brought in for ops. The breeder of my old Bull Terrier drove from North Birmingham to Solihull whenever any of her terriers needing treating.

Vets and bulldogs!!
A friend of mine has bulldog pups, which are very difficult to rear, she had a lovely lady have a boy from her. He went to the vet for his second jab and the vet tied his muzzle because he was wriggling 'to teach him a lesson' she said, he had a heart attack and died. His poor people were devestated but they put their trust in the vet. :(

              I havn't seen that, quite probably tho'  I saw an obituary that they put in Dogs Today Aug 03, read it quick while I was at the vets, his pedigree name was 'Tripaway........(wish I had a memory!)   I only knew him as a little pup. My friend sat up with her pups for 8days solid when they were born because bullies tend to suffocate easily, only for this chap to have a 'forever' home with lovely people and have his life taken from him by the person who should have known better, makes me very angry

Found it DUDDLES, yes that's him 'Bacon'  still can't remember his full ped. name and it was a cherry eye that he went to the vets for, common with bullies.  :(

Cannot believe a vet would do such a thing to a 14 week old puppy 'just to teach him a lesson for wriggling',could'nt bear the thought of that happening to my bully.
Do you know if the owners have sued?

I am not sure, it is extremely difficult to sue vets, I know that they were paid by the insurance company tho'

Well...yes..they do don't they? That is how they are supposed to be as far as i am concerned. :)

They do have an undershot jaw, but not so undershot that it exposes the front teeth.

Heres the KC breed standard explaining the mouth

Jaws broad and square with six small front teeth between canines in an even row.  Canines wide apart.  Teeth large and strong, but not seen when the mouth is closed.  When viewed from front under jaw directly under upper jaw and parallel.
