hello
little problem:
My puppy only will eat if i am standing near or behind him... he never finishes and is losing weight.
help?
Did his breeder notice anything strange about his feeding habits?
If he is hungry and healthy he should eat regardless of whether you are there or not - I would suggest you get the vet to check him out if he is losing weight. Maybe make an appointment for early morning, don't give him breakfast and take it with you so the vet can watch him eating to see if there is anything strange going on.

I had one like that once, she did grow out of it, I think it is a confidence thing. I would stay near her for now so that she finishes, you can gradually pull away as she gets older.

You don't say how old your pup is or how long you have had him, but if he came from a breeder who fed all puppies from the same bowl, perhaps, or always in company with other dogs/pups, he may simply be lacking the stimulus of other pups feeding around him. Nothing improves appetite like a bit of competition. If he's had his vaccinations, invite a friendly dog around and see if he eats better in company. Worth a try.
