Hi everyone.
Well we've eventually got her home. (Rio). :D :D :D
It was a long journey, but worth it. She is such a cutie. I must admit she's a lot smaller than I thought she would of been, with her being 10 weeks old. I'm sure my litter were a lot bigger by then, but I suppose they are all different.
She was really good on the way home, she slept most of the time. She didn't mess and wasn't sick.
When we brought her in we introduced her to Ruby and Toesy, (it was Ruby that I was a little concerned about). Anyway Toesy really growled at her, and Ruby was going mad as well. I started to worry, and put them both in the kitchen. I even sat wondering if I'd done the right thing.
Eventually I tried again with just Toesy first, I was really scared in case he tried to bite her, but after a long sniff he was fine, he just wanted to play. But he is a bit rough. When we knew everything was ok with Toesy we brought Ruby in, again she was just getting really excited, and wanting to play. But she did go for her once, while they were playing, so I'll have to watch her
She is now settled down for the night, fingers crossed. She did winge a bit when I left her in her crate, so I covered it up and she has gone to sleep.
Now for a problem, (there always has to be one).
Toesy has peed 3 times on the floor (proper squat down long wees) since we've been back with pup. He never wees in the house normally.
Please tell me that it is normal, and he'll stop.
Is it because of the pup. I thought he might of been marking his territory, but surely that would of been short cocking his leg wees.
Hope someone can help.

Michelle.
Hope someone

Congrats.  I am still waiting for my pup.  She is due to be born any day now.  The breeder said she is due for the 15th of this month so basically anyday now.  I am driving my husband nuts.  My little girl will be a White German Sheperd.  I have done my homework and have found a terrific breeder with great references.  Did you go crazy with the waiting?  As for your question yes I think it can be normal.  Because I have worked as a foster home for a dog shelter I have seen my dog or other dogs I am fostering respond the same way.  It will stop as long as you do what you did in the begining when then were being potty trained as a puppy.  They will remember that it is not allowed and go back to normal.  Just try to keep the routine as normal as possible and give all three the same amount of attention when they are together.  This will relax the dogs quickly and realized that nothing in the pack order has really changed much except that it has increased.  I hope this helps. And again congrats.  I am biting my nails in anticapation of my pup coming home(but first the birth)

Hi

Sorry to hijack the thread but Iseabeau which breeder are you getting your GSD from?

Have you heard of Bozeta?

:D Glad she's home and Rio is a cool name :D

Toesy's still a pup himself so I'd give him a little leeway for a while and just gently remind him of his puppy training ;)

I'm sure he'll settle down after a couple of days.

When we introduced a new GSD puppy to our 3 year old GSD bitch who was perfectly housetrained,we had the same problem. When we put papers down and said"toilet" a few times to the puppy, especially when she had "missed" the papers completely,Tanya started using them again. We thought it was hilarious actually. It was as if she was showing the puppy where to poo etc.She soon reverted back to normal, but the pup never quite got the hang of it until she was old enough to go outside, then she would hold it in,and come indoors and use the papers. Talk about contrary. It all worked out in the end though,so good luck with your trio.

Glad everythings ok Mitch - you will have to send a photo :)
Toesy may be feeling a bit insecure - you know what they are like - the big babys  and like you say I would be prone to consider it a territorial thing too . Marking his home just so the pup knows its his !! :)

Hi Mitch,

Snap send a photo to, I'm glad to know someone other than me still takes them,  hint hint ;)

Have you thought the pup will smell of her mom and littermates, and the smell of them might be what Tosey is trying to cover, proving he lives there. You know doggie sort of thinking.

Rio is a great name, it suits her, have you decided on a K/C name yet or did the breeder do that, we need to know for when we see the show results next year :D

Hi everyone, Thanks for the response.
Rio is settling in nicely. She slept all night, didn't wake me till 7:30am :) She'd done a wee and a little poo through the night :( But thats to be expected.
All 3 have got on really well today, she's not scared of them at all, even though they tend to get a bit boisterous.
We've had a few accidents, mainly due to bad weather, I've been taking her out, trying to get her to go wee, :D but she tends to just sniff around trying to eat anything she can get, (leaves and other bits off trees mainly) then sits on the step shivering, so I'll take her in, then yes you've guessed it she wee's.
But this afternoon I did manage to get her to run about on the grass, and she did a poo, my neighbours must think they've got a nutty neighbour, the fuss I was making.
Toesy is getting slightly better too :) only one wee today.
Karen, Rio already had her K/C name, Ryuran Devil's Advocate. Then I'll have  (of Lorandan) put on the end.
I was lucky Isabeau, I didn't have long to wait, It was pretty quick from knowing I was definitely having one, to actually getting her. But it was still hard especially as I was keeping it a secret from the children.

I'll send some photo's as soon as I can.
And I'd love a photo of your Dizzy, Wishfairy. Hows everything going, Great I hope :D

had the same thing.....
when we brought bailey home taz was really excited,he had a snarl when bailey tried to take his kong, but now he lets bailey walk all over him, and they play great taz has exceptional patience and has not snarled since that first day. They get on great but my god its a handfull taz being a puppy still himself.
The first day home we put the paper down and bailey weed!! then me and mark were in the living room and we heard a wee, mark said he's really good isn't he? i replied thats not a puppy wee luv, we walked to the kitchen to find taz cocking his leg up the baby gate (which was purchased to keep them seperated if necessary, but bailey fits through the bars :p ) making a substantial puddle. He just looked straight at me and carried on, so much as to say ''well if its good enough for him it's good enough for me!'' :p :p
i was doubled over- gobsmacked and neither of us could help but laugh, anyway when i regained my senses me and taz had a word and touch wood it hasn't happened since. but when bailey wees outside taz wees in exactly the same spot.
Actually today bailey was squatting for his wee and taz followed for a sniff stood over bailey cocked his leg and gave bailey a heavenly shower :)  :)
