This is one of the reasons we bought a really good artificial one this year. I love real trees, but can't cope with the fact that every time a dog walks past a whole branch of needles falls off! I used to buy ones with roots, as they always lasted, but I like 7ft trees and I can't get them that big with roots...

The only advice I can offer is to be careful you don't over-water...and I gather a squirt of hairspray helps, but I've never tried it...

We have just nought a non-needle dropping one, however, we have not put it up yet.At least the needles are not as sharp as the normal trees, which does help. I have also heard that there are different types of non dropping trees, some more "droppier" than the others. Of course, you pay for the best ones. I think we got an intermediate one, but there are some non dropping ones where NONE of the needles drop ( i think)!

Hi Archer,
Don't think you can do anything much about it - if it was me, I'd call at the shop I bought it from, after all, the non-drop trees are not cheap.  Maybe it's been cut down a while ago or something.  We've had Nordman Firs every year, and have had no problems (and we don't even water them!) - the needles don't drop if anyone knocks into it, though I suppose eventually they would do - that's why I'm wondering whether your tree isn't maybe as 'fresh' as it should be!

Like Chloe we have a really good artificial tree (I have to put it together branch by branch  but it fools most people ;) ).  I adore the real ones but it would spoil my Christmas to have a dying tree in the house :(
