I have had Cassie our newbie on Incurin for the last ten days but have seen no improvement in her wetting of the bed. I am now going to try her on Propalin to see if that works. She is quite over weight so I am hoping with the gradual weight loss we are seeing may improve it.

Does anybody know whether these two drugs do the same job or are the any differences..

Also can anybody advise on where to get the cheapest incontinence pads so I can put one inbetween a blanket and the bed so I only have a blanket to wash as my poor washing machine is complaining about the excess work load it is having to take to do blankets and beds! :)

I actually saved 2 links for you when I read your post on Lab Res. (I've answered on there too) but I didn't know if Cassie was spayed or not so was asking first.  Incurin is an hormone replacer for spayed bitches that tightens the sphincter muscles.

I would buy two large pieces of Vetbedding (try here: http://www.bedding.demon.co.uk/Mail%20Order.htm )

Cut each piece into two.  Put a thick layer of newspaper in the bottom of her bed (assuming you have a plastic bed?) and put the piece of Vetbed on top.

Any wet will pass to the paper underneath, and she will be comfortabley and dry, and it washes well and dries quickly.

This is what breeders use for whelping bitches and puppies, and ensures they stay nice and cosy.  You just remove the wet paper from underneath.  It also doesn't harbour moulds or smells.

My last GSD had a 'leak' when she got older, and Incurin did nothing at all. Propalin on the other hand worked a charm, and almost straight away, and we never had any more problems.

Unfortunately the Propalin doesn't seem to be having any effect either :( We will have to increase the dose and see if that works otherwise back to the drawing board.

You do have to play around with the dosage. Keep trying and good luck

Thanks Kat I think that is what we are planning to do. She is on 1ml twice a day so I will see what Stuart our vets recommends.

Have you had to do this yourself before with an incontinent bitch ?

I gave Propaline to my old girl and it worked a treat, when I ran out she would start wetting herself within days.
