Hello, I have a 3 month old male jack russel cross yorkshire terrier (George). I am having trouble training, he is not yet house trained and is still mouthing / biting me all the time.
I have another dog (Gizzy, 4 years now) (yorkshire cross) who was easy to train, I just "cried" when he mouthed / bit me and after a few days he stopped and to house train him I praised him when he went outside, ignored it if he did it inside and I missed the act, and "told him off" (deep voice, No), picked him up and put him outside, if I caught him in the act.
But with George none of these tactics seem to be working, I have progressed to deep voice "no" - still no effect, to growling at him for the mouthing / biting which does stop him for a second then he starts again! For the house training I am at a loss, I take him outside for ages, he will do a wee (much praise), then he will come indoors and a few minutes later he will do a pooh indoors (he won't do a pooh if I stay out side longer after his wee)! He nearly always does his poohs out of sight so I don't think he has the idea that they are supposed to be done outside at all!
I think George must be a lot more dominant than Gizzy as "shouting" has no effect, any advise would be appreciated. Do you think it is the Jack russel in him? If so how do you train a jack russel?

Jack Russells have a reputation for being difficult! My aunt has one and came back from a trip to the shops to find she had no sofa left - just feathers!!! Can't help much I'm afraid, but I'm sure someone will be able to get onto this one and help you.
