Does anyone have any experience of a puppy with poor pigmentation and having any improvement? I have heard seaweed and elderberry is supposed to help also treacle but I am a bit sceptical, and wondered if anyone had tried it or anything else for that matter, with successthanks Poppyjosh

It depends on the breed, I imagine. In my breed pigmentation of nose and eyerims (ideally complete at 8 weeks) improves over the years - I have known noses to completely 'fill in' at 7 years of age.

The herbal supplements certainly do no harm, so they're worth trying.

Thanks for your reply, her nose and eye rims are black, its the skin beyond that which remains very pink giving her a strange apearance, other than that she is beautifull with very sound construction and wonderfull movement.thanks Poppyjosh

Hi,

I tried Elderberry and Nettle from Dorwest Herbs and found no difference.
What I did find was as my bitch approached her season her pigmentation was looking really good when she starts to loose coat it starts to go.Yet as apuppy she had excellent pigment as did her parents. So in Bitches could it be hormonal ???.

Briony :-)

My puppy is 8 1/2 months now and hasnt had her first season yet which is late in my breed,[shih tzu] usually the first season is somewhere between 6 and 8 months,I have another puppy at home who is 2 months younger and she has just finnished her first season which I thought might have brought her in but nothing so far...Poppyjosh
