Topic Dog Boards / General / Labrador proof bed needed-any ideas?

Hi guys,

As many of you know, I have a 7 month old working lab pup called Kester.  He is crated at night/when I go out and always has lots of chew toys/filled kongs/raggas etc to chew/play with.  He has now gone through 3 dog beds (chews a couple of large holes and pulls the filling out, its white and he looks like a snowdog!) and 3 pieces of anti-slip carpet (just likes to chew holes everywhere in this!).  This is getting pretty costly and I wondered if anyone has any suggestions.  I have also tried Vet-bed, again it didn't last a week.
He likes his crate and sleeps in it with the door open during the day, so its not a 'crate' problem, but short of getting him some chain-mail to sleep on, I'm quickly running out of ideas. (and my bank manager isn't too happy either!)
Any advice would be, as ever, greatly appreciated.
Ali :)

Assuming he is indoors, then I wouldn't give him any bedding if he wrecks it.  A wad of newsppaper will give good insulation, and if he shreds that, so what.  He has a thick coat to keep him warm. :D

My oldest bitch refused to sleep in a bed, just lay on the kitchen floor in the first 18 months, so I took the bed away.

When I found that she was prefering to sleep on carpet during the day I gave her a poece of vet bed, and when she was using this, I then got her a plastic bed to put it in.
