i was just cleaning out a cupboard the other day when i came across a newspaper cutting of a black dog looking very similar to a golden - under the picture is written ch bordercot guy - he looks a very attractive dog and i was wondering whether you knew what breed he was, when he was born and who is parents are

I put in a Google search under bordercot guy and the following link came up....

He was a Flatcoated Retriever. If you do a search using Google you will find a few references to him, including a beautiful picture of him.

flatcoated retriever, his date of birth is 30 dec 1978,the breeder the late mr w galloway,owner at the time mrs r brady.

He was around the same time as our old Nemo (The Viking of Woodbridge) those of you who may remember (maybe Westie Lover?) Guy had really good driving movement and was outstandingly well balanced; head not quite classic, but the rest of him well made up for it. A lovely dog who passed his movement to a good many of his progeny.
