Hi guys,
Somebody mentioned to me in passing in an email that there is a hip-scoring centre in Eastleigh that does not anaesthetise the dog. However, they have not got back in contact with me to give me the details of this centre.
Do any of you guys know of this centre?? If so can you give me the details?
Thanks
Sarah

I feel I should point out to you that the BVA and the KC are trying to stamp out unsedated or anesthetised hip scoring. There are people who do it but talking about it on an open forum could result in getting people into trouble.

Also sedation is more risky than anaesthetic. Even light sedation could cause a problem. Think I am correct in saying there is as much chance of a dog getting into problems under a sedation as under anaesthetic, the difference being that anaesthetic can be reversed immediately but sedation can not.
Having said that it is un-usual these days for either to cause a problem, most vets being aware which breeds of dogs are liable to have problems under anaesthetic, so use a suitable product. If you have one of these (some sight hounds in particular) then talk it over with your vet to be sure that they are aware of the possible problems.
