In my local paper tonite was a choccie labrador, female, 12 months old, KC reg & insured.  Wait for it £1,300!!!!!!   Can you believe it.  I know this place is a puppy farm too and the lab won't have anything decent in it's pedigree.  I cannot believe the amount they are charging, purely for the colour I expect to as they usually charge £500 and usually have yellows and blacks.  How much would be the top price of a REALLY well bred lab by a decent breeder?  Not knowing much about labs I would just be interested to know.

Not too sure but when I picked up my lab puppy at the end of august I was told be her breeder, that her grandfather (a field trial champion) had just been sold for £10,000!!!!!  It would be no good for me lol once mine I could not part with a dog for a million...

That same ad has been running since thursday 5th Dec , i take it that they have had no luck selling the poor dog.

For that amount I would have thought they're trying to sell her as partly trained or something arent they??

it cant be for just a normal choccie lab surely?

well I know that she won't be trained in anything special like gundog work or anything.  She probably just knows the basics like any dog would do.  But she won't have been out and about meeting people and getting used to walking by roads etc.

Well unless she is a trained gundog I wonder what they are charging for, most dogs still for sale at that age would be given away. Just think the work the new owner will have if she has been kennels for the last year. Lets face it at 12 months she is on the same level as a rescue dog and what do they fetch somewhere between £50 & £100.

Exactly what I thought.  I have a feeling they are just charging for colour!  It will be interesting to see if she is advertised again at a cheaper price in a few days time.
