Hi all having just joined this dog forum i was pleasantly pleased to see how keen and dedicated everyone seems to be.
I need some pointers on buying a black Lab puppy to train up as a retriever of pigeon and game.
I have never tried to train a dog before,would i be advised to seek proffesional assistance, do you think it's viable to try yourself?
what sort of puppy would you think I would need i.e temperament, gun dog family,is a Labrador the ideal dog? can you help? all advise would be appreciated

Hello and welcome to CD, I can't help you with training but John I'm sure will be along soon, and he will be able to tell you anything you need to know,  he has also written a book, and you can get it through, I think, North West Labrador Rescue.
Anyway if this is not correct someone will tell you.
