Topic Dog Boards / General / They Got their dog back!!!

Some of you might remember a post I wrote about three months ago with regard to a dog that was stolen.

Basically my brother-in-laws parents have a plot of land in Spain.  Their house is on one side and her brother has a house on the other side.  Both families have a dog.  One night they went for a family meal and both houses were burgled.  At his mums house not much was taken as their dog is quite a big cross and obviously frightened them off, but over at his uncles they cleared the house out and stole the dog aswell - a lovely little yorkie.

Anyway, The owners put posters up offering a reward but two months later had heard nothing.  Then one day a Spanish man called and said he had the dog.  He had been working near a gypsy camp and had seen the dog tied up and being badly beaten so he had paid 50 euros to rescue it.  He returned the dog and didn't even want the reward - just asked them to reimburse his 50 euros.  I could have cried when I heard as I think it shows how nice and caring some people can be when all we hear these day seem to be horror stories.

The dog is now back with his family and receieving extra special cuddles to make up for his ordeal.  They have also bought a dobe each to guard the properties, but lets just say they're not exactly scary!

Hi Clare, thats smashing news! :D
I didn`t see your previous post as I would have told you the best advice I was given from people who know over here is if your dog gets stolen go to the nearest local gypsy camp & ask there. Tell them it`s very precious to you & if they don`t have it they`ll sure find out who does! The prospect of a reward does wonders & is usually unspoken but understood :)
Pleasesd they got him back :D

Christine,

The advice would be the same in the UK.

Excellent news...
People do have a heart after all...:)
I hate reading about people who's dogs have been lost or stolen...
Charlie went missing about 2 years ago... luckily i tracked him down 2 days later via petsearch (wonderful people!!) I thought my heart was going to break without him...
I now know how lucky i am that he was picked up by someone and used for dog fighting (he's a stafford)
Before you ask yes he's microchipped and tagged...
I'd  paint my phone number on him if icould! ;)
Once again im so happy that the people have their dog back!

Lots of smiles
Donna and charliex

Ps i just wish someone would find the dog that was lost in a road traffic accident when it ran off in the midlands. I only have to think about this poor dog and owners and im in tears :(
