Topic Dog Boards / General / Descriptions, when your dog is chip'd

How many of you, when your dog is microchipped just give brief descriptions such as

Animal Species: Canine

Animal Breed: Crossbreed

Animal Sex: Female

Animal Colour: Black and Tan

~~
The above are details of a missing bitch sent out by Petlog - would you recognise her?

When you have your pet microchipped please think carefully and if it is a crossbreed then put what it looks like (or what its parents are) and in colour/description include a full description - where the colours change, scars if any etc then if your pet does go missing at least the Dog Wardens have some hope of recognising it.

Another chipping question...

What happens when you move house? I can't find my documents so don't have her details but, should we ever move house, surely I'll need to find them out?

I think that you can go to the kennel club web site as they have pet log on there??

I don't know how long it takes to get your certificate.  When you had your dog chipped you should have got a piece of paper with the details on it - there is probably a phone number on it so they would be the people to contact about this.

Pet Log (who most of the chipping companies register with) generally require your microchip number and Petlog ID number although they can manage without the latter.

Do you have a record of your dog's microchip number if not then get it !!  There is no point in her being chipped if you don't have the records/number.  I imagine your vet will have the details.

You can pay PetLog to change your details if you move.

If you are a breeder and have a pup returned they will generally be kind and put your address on as a temporary address and then you pay to have the new owners details put on when available
