Topic Dog Boards / General / Info/advice given to some questions

Hi all - it's not often I post although not a newbie - used the board years ago before the introduction of user names etc, but it's a cold night here in Scotland and have taken the opportunity to surf about..I am a bit concerned about some of the misinformation  (referring to one of my breeds - the working cocker - the other - the Irish red and white setter I do not breed but I show) and the rather misleading advertising that some breeders have on their pages, both here and in the 'other' message board - to quote one example - blue roan is a rare colour in the working cocker and they are not usually KC reg - not a direct quote BTW...What a load of rubbish!! Now - this is just one example and I won't go into the breeder's rather misleading statement that I spotted tonight as I'll probably have someone jump on me, but visitors/novice owners will go away and quote verbatim what they have read and taken as fact...

Edited to say - that this is just in this breed that I've picked up misinformation - how much else is there? Think the moral of what I'm trying to say (and badly too!) is read posts and work what is fact and what is subjective..
Having said the above, I do think the quality of information given by some of our more experienced posters/breeders is worth it's weight in gold and the board is lucky to have them and their regular contributions. I just had to have this whinge off my chest as I got SO annoyed looking through posts tonight that for once, I couldn't keep silent as I usually do!! I also hope that visitors that do ask questions esp with regard to blood lines and that like appreciate the trouble people go to help them - I have lost count of the pedigrees I have supplied/faxed to people and don't even get a thank you email, same goes for puppy enquiries - the lady that posted saying that she hadn't had a reply to her search for a puppy of a certain breed  - I can undertsand her frustration, but I have always emailed back to enquiries for my breed and pointed them to a reputable breeder that can help - never a thank you...I'm feeling very disillusioned tonight!!

Hi Kirsten

If you notice information given in a thread that you think is incorrect or erroneous than jump in and say so - the rest of us do :D

If you see information on the CD web pages that you consider incorrect then email Admin at admin@champdogs.co.uk and let them know.

Christine
PS  Scotland is not the only place that was cold last night ! :)

Will do in future!! I have to admit that I go through fits and spells of reading the board so am usually well out of date by the time I see things and it's 'old news' by then...

It could still help someone else, though. :D (Its cold here again today, but at least not wet)
