Hi Everyone...I'm just reading through some searches to see if I can find my problem, but thought I'd post to see if anyone can help. Our year old bull terrier has had very runny poops starting yesterday evening and into this evening. We switched him to rice and a few kibbles nad nothing at all tonight, but this hasn't helped. He also vomited this morning and it was really foul smelling. He's had runny poos before, in fact he doesn't often have normal firm ones, despite being fed high quality holistic kibble and canned food (no junk food), and health food biscuits. Anyway, I'm more concerned this time (and of course no vet available til the morning at least) because he's started straining a lot and nothing is coming out. I thought I even detected a little blood in one of his stools. The other thing is that he has to go very frequently - up to 6/7 times an hour. When he goes it's only a very small amount. I did read about the yoghurt...I might give that a try. If anyone has any suggestions til I can get to the vet I'd appreciate it.

If there is blood in his stools it is probably because of the straining but definately get him to the vet asap
Vomiting and diahorrea can be a sign of a number of viruses .
It could be just something he has eaten but definately check him out
Good luck

Hi Lel and Sarah
Thanks for the replies. We ended up going on Saturday night to the emergency vet after talking to our breeder...She (the vet) didn't think he was in any immediate danger and wanted to rule out some other things first (parasites etc). Anyway, she ended up giving him a laxative (oddly enough!) that Spike has to take for 5 days. Nothing changed until this morning (hopefully) when he had a larger poop than "normal". We're keeping our fingers crossed that it's not some blockage. He's got quite an appetite but yesterday didn't drink very much water, so if he is still not drinking today I guess it's back to the vet. I cant believe your dog, Sarah, getting the sock right off your kid!! They are such clowns aren't they??? :D
