I have a 17 month old black cocker spaniel bitch whom I had hand stripped by the breeder from whom I bought her.  Problem is her head only looks tidy for the first couple of weeks then as it grows it wont lie flat.  I have a feeling her head has been clipped, though I wasn't told of this and don't know why it would have been.  Now when her hair gets long it grows very curly and she looks like Rod Stewart!! :(

I am trying to grow it out to see if I can get past this stage and strip it when longer and I have been grooming and trimming her feet ect. myself.  Is it possible it will ever lie smooth again or will I need to keep cutting it now.

Sadly some cocker top knots (whether English or American) simly grow Curly.  Only way to cope is to pull with finger and thumb as soon as fluffiness appears.  Of course, if it has been clipped this will make it worse.  One of my old Buff girls has never had her top bit clipped/scissored in her life, she is eight and a half know, and 2 weeks after a 'hair-do' seh starts looking wavy, 6 weeks and she looks like Bettyu Grable, bubble curls all over!
bye
