I received this from a friend who had a choice to
make. It said that I had a choice to make too. I've chosen. Now
it's your turn to choose.
The story goes that some time ago a mother punished
her 5 year old daughter for wasting a roll of
expensive gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and she became even
more upset when the child used the gold paper to decorate a box to
put under the Christmas tree.
Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift box to
her mother the next morning and said, "This is for
you, Momma."
The mother was embarrassed by her earlier over
reaction, but her anger flared again when she opened
the box and found it was empty.
She spoke to her daughter in a harsh manner. "Don't
you know, young lady, w hen you give someone a present there's
supposed to be something inside the package?"
She had tears in her eyes and said, "Oh, Momma, it'! s not empty!
I blew kisses into it until it was full."
The mother was crushed. She fell on her knees and put
her arms around her little girl, and she begged her forgiveness
for her thoughtless anger.
An accident took the life of the child only a short
time later, and it is told that the mother kept that
gold box by her bed for all the years of her life. Whenever she
was discouraged or faced difficult problems she would open the box
and take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child
who had put it there.
In a very real sense, each of us, as human beings,
have been given a Golden box filled with unconditional love and
kisses from our children, family, friends and God. There is no
more precious possession anyone could hold.
You now have two choices:
1. Pass this on to your friends, or
2. Delete it and act like it didn't touch your
heart.
As you can see, I took choice No. 1. Friends are like angels who
lift us to our feet, when our wings have trouble remembering how
to fly.
Go in peace

Oh dear I know it is late but these sort of e mails are the ones I bin without reading too closely because they are obviously not true just to pull at the heart strings. Perhaps I am a hard person (although I dont think I am with real events) but I tell my friends to keep this sort of mush for others not me.

Edited to say do people really believe these sorts of things - I have seen this one so many times over the last few years...................

Hi Gina I'm not saying it's true and I must admit to not seeing it before but it makes me think of the little things that my daughter does for me mean more to her than i sometimes realise. As all to often in our busy lives little things that mean so much to one can be overlooked and I will honestly try to never say to my daughter in a minute Hannah when she wants to show me her piece of pottery or read her latest poem or even sing the new Christmas Carol for the 199th Time!!!

Hi Craigless
I've seen that mail before, and it made me feel the same way as you do. I admit I am a big softy, and these things ALWAYS pull at my heart strings.....but yes, it got me to realise how precious life is, how none of us know how long we have left, and not to take our children and their little ways for granted.
Strangely, not too long after reading that mail for the first time, my son went into cardiac arrest one night.....he was resussed, but both the mail and this night hit home to me. Life is precious...as are our children.

Hi Craigles
I probably was a bit harsh but there are so many things to be sad about in the world nowadays I just dont like made up stories trying to make me feel sadder. I dont need them to have time for the people I love and I am absolutely sure that you dont need any of them either to make time for your little girl. I bet she is badgering you over xmas - hope she has a lovely one. :D :D
