Hi,

Christmas is coming fast and I can't decide what to get nieces and nephew (they seem to have everything already) and we thought we'd get Premium bonds as their birthdays are Nov and Jan (the twins) it's hard to get something for both so Premium bonds once the inital purchase of £100 the the wider family could get them bonds. Plus you don't loose anything.

Anyone won anything? and is it a reasonable idea?

My gran brought all us grandkids about £500 worth each when she went into a home about 7 years ago (she had to get rid of her money  ) I have only won about £100 :(

Have you thought about starting them up a stakeholder pension ??  They probably wont appreciate it now but I bet they will when they are older.

My husband's friend has the max, which is £30,000.  He's an old gent and I think this is a big piece of his retirement savings.   He gets about £50 a month!

I have a couple of £1000 worth and I am lucky to get £50 twice a year.  But, I'm always hoping for the £1,000,000 :-)

Its a pity i hadn't bought premium bonds instead of playing the lottery.

i bought my children oldest now 21 premium bonds when they were born, James the eldest has won £50 once the others nothing!  Don't do any good on lottery though as only ever won a few tenners on that and once got 4 numbers when it was about 40 quid!  oh well i'll keep throwing my money away!

I bought some for my eldest son when he was born 10 years ago and he has won 50.00 once - that's all.  Someone else I know who has the maximum amount wins once or twice a month!
