Topic Other Boards / Foo / Just why do we have pets . . . .

I was awakened this morning at 6.30 by a dog racing round the bedroom and whining. Loudly. Polly had heard Charlie (the cat that used to be male) fighting with Mucky (the neighbour's cat who also used to be male).

By the time I had quietened down the dog, both cats had disappeared. S*d it I thought, and went back to bed. Gave up at 7 and got up and got ready to take the dog out. Went past the utility room (where the cats come in and out) and saw the battlefield. It would seem that Charlie had won due to the amount of black fur everywhere. Charlie's white. One of the cats seems to have been incontinent as there was a puddle on the floor. Fortunately the floor is tiled. Unfortunately there was a pile of (dirty, thank goodness) washing on the floor. Wet.

Decided to clear it up afterwards and went out with the dog. I didn't want to go the same route as yesterday evening as I knew there were still the remains of a 90% eaten (by Polly) rabbit. I had known there was a dead rabbit there and it was my fault she ate it as I was too slow with the lead, I though she would have been distracted by the other 5 dogs she'd been playing with. Silly me - can't keep a lab (even a mix) from edibles. I knew the rabbit was relatively fresh so I wasn't too worried yesterday, but I had other ideas for breakfast this morning.

So, off up the lane, one house after us and then just fields. And rubbish - pizza boxes, paper coffee cups, paper bags from the baker, bottles, even a computer monitor (mind you, not even a lab would try to eat that!). I gave up and put Polly back on the lead. At least she doesn't pull, just tries to eat anything that was ever in contact with food. Goodness knows why people insist on throwing their rubbish around the countryside. We even have litter bins in Germany ! The red necks here would probably say it it's the immigrants, everyone over 50 would say it's teenagers etc etc etc.

Now I've got that off my chest and had my cuppa I feel much better. The dog's in her basket, asleep. One cat's in his basket, asleep. The other cat's on my bed, asleep. Aren't pets wonderful !

Have a lovely day

Both my dogs are finally fast asleep now.....<<<aahhhhhhh peace and quiet>>>
After pup kept raiding the kitchen bin, i closed the door, so he ended up having a mad half hour chasing my JRT.
Isn't it just lovely when they go for their naps?? :)

I also hate it when people throw away their litter, rather than binning it.  Really annoys me.
We have a McDonalds nearby, and the rubbish is shocking since it opened :(

A few years ago I was driving in the Rhondda Valleys and ended up lost on the mountain (didn't have a clue where I was!! ) it was very remote not a house or anything in sight except the road over the mountain, and right at the most remote part... a double mattress!!! just thrown down the mountain.  Someone had gone to the trouble of carting it miles up there and dumped it.  A single phonecall to the local council and they'd have collected it from the house but they......  words fail me

Honestly !!!  Some people !!!!    This sort of thing really makes me mad....can't they just take it to the local dump/skip/rubbish bin etc.....or pay to have it removed properly.
