We were entered in our first show today and Leo got 2nd place - out of two (lol) - is that 2nd or last? (lol), his litter brother got 1st. Anyway we both really enjoyed it and Leo was very good - apart from lying down spreadeagled on the rubber matting and falling asleep, sitting when the judge was going over him.......But his tail was still wagging when we left, so a good 1st outing for both of us I thought.
Does that mean he's qualified for Crufts?
Many thanks for your good wishes on my earlier post.
Jan

as it was a champshow then you have qulified for crufts, and its 2nd not last!
like yesterday my boy got a 3rd and a 1st (last and last)
glad you enjoyed it and good luck in the future

Well done, glad you both had a good day, only some classes at Breed Club Champ show's are Cruft's qualifiers none of the Special classes are, the main breed classes are as follows: MP,P,J,PG,L,and Open.
Hope I have not missed any.
For your first show the main thing is to enjoy.
Hope this helps.
I took 3 dogs all unplaced but it was a good day for all of us this show is always enjoyable and has the knack of making all welcome (my dogs loved the fruitcake so kindly brought round).

Hi,
Unfortunately I had to leave early as it was my first trip to Sheffield and not being too sure of the route wanted to get home before it got dark.
There were alot of entries for most classes (apart from MPD lol) and they were nowhere near finished when I left around 3pm, so I didn't get to see the winners.
I believe Copperfield Cicero got dog CC, Ferdhu Hudson RCC but don't know who the bitch CC went to. Sorry

Well I missed that one!
I didn't know many people there and those I did know left before the end, so I'm afraid I don't know what went on. I think the bar was open all day so maybe something happened there later.

Hi,
Welcome to the board.
I would recommend you join your area Bullmastiff Association, they hold a number of Open and Championship Shows during the year and will send you an entry form prior to their next show. I would also join a local ringcraft class, they will teach you how to show your dogs and also often have entry forms for local cannine society open shows.
You should visit some dog shows so that you can see the Bullmastiffs on show and see if your dogs are of a comparable standard.
Whereabouts in the UK are you? There is a Bullmastiff Association Championship Show at Kirkby Sports Centre in Liverpool on 6th December. Another show is the LKA at the NEC Birminham on 12th December.
