my dog was thought to have developed immune mediated haemolytic anaemia. but this has not settled and she is still dropping her blood count. she has now been put on imuran. has any else had this problem because there is no information on the web

Hi, We had a bullmastiff that developed auto immune haemolitc anaemia.
Unfortunately the prognosis for her was not good.
If you search for "auto immune" conditions, you should find some info on the web.

Sadly we have lost 2 irish setters to auto-immune haemolytic anaemia, though the last was about5 years ago so treatment may well have advanced by now. Our first setter with it had blood transfusions from her brother, which kept her going for a while. When we lost our second setter they were starting to try using the human AIDS treatment (can't remember exact tablets, had a Z in it will ask my mum) so it may be worth checking this out with your vet.
