Just as I thought Amber was progressing in her training and behaviour, we woke up this morning to complete chaos, she ahd eaten one of my boots, my hairbrush, two pens, daisy's collar(off her neck!!) and when joe was hoovering he nearly got blown up cos she had bitten through the cord of the hoover and he hadn't noticed. My other two lab bitches have never been this naughty but i was wondering if it may be that she's going to come into season.she is just 8 months.Has anyone elses bitch gone worse before their first season?

Yes my two youngsters have ! It is funny that they lead you into a false sense of security then WHAM !!
I was clearing up a chewed trainer (always my husbands) and a torn to shreds pig yesterday and the Dyson got blocked because of all the mess !! I did swear at MB and told her excatly what I thought of her !! :D She is my friend again today :D

Just thought I'd add my experience, when we had our bitch, (sadly no longer with us) she was really getting on well, behaviour and training, so thought we'd let the boat out and brought a new hall way carpet, only to come home and found it in one corner in a nice nest shape, have to add a few days later she came into season!! We have always put it down to her coming into season.

glad to hear it might only be pmt!!!she must be taking after me.she's doing quite well today, had only eaten two thongs and a bra out of the washing basket!!
Oh good its not just me then! Every time I triumphantly think we've cracked it, theres a resurgence of the very behaviour vis lead pulling - hes stuck on the pull, owner stops and waits, he reverses the lead is loose and on we go, 2 steps and its tight again phase of walking on lead. I have persevered, I have rewarded good behaviour, I have remained calm, I have roared in fury as he pulls and all improvement is temporary. :)

Oh glad its not just Darcy whos obsessed with underwear, when she was little it made me tidier cos I couldnt leave any on the floor, now she just shoves her head in and rummages around. Then she deliberately snaps the waistband. At one point I was down to having only 3 pairs left, now I've restocked and am thinking about padlockling my washing bin :D

We bought our bitch to keep our dog company and to stop him from chewing all the woodwork in the house - it worked, but now she has taken over from him!!!! :) Funnily enough, just before and during her first season she hasnt done any damage!!! Gotta love these labradors!! ;)

What is it with the washing bin!! My Dalmatian was obsessed, we had a fabric type one when we got him and he was removing my underwear at every opportunity, we then got a wicker type one, he got the lid off of that, out came my underwear.
It seemed to be his personal quest in life to raid it and strut around the house with my knickers in his mouth......never took my husbands, can't possibly think why!!
Got him now though, a very smart and very expensive, stainless steel angled flip lid one now sits in our bedroom. No one would believe how long it took us to go around all the stores to find a Dalmatian proof one, also had the same thing with the kitchen bin, but that is another story.....

My GSD bitch has just gone into 'monster mode' after being really good for the last 3 months (she's just coming up to 1 year). She had her season at 9.5mths and was fine before during and after (got very lovey dovey during!). Then a couple of weeks ago went to bed Sunday evening, woke up to a different dog Monday morning. (see earlier post 'hormones responsible for mad GSD pup?'.
Mad, hyper, naughty, chewy, stealy??? Still trying to figure it out.....it's been suggested its the Kevin stage!

Glad to hear that mine is not the only one to pinch my knickers.
7 month GSD bitch, you can gaurentee that as soon as i sort the washing into piles she will pinch my knickers and make a run for it.
Don't really have probs with chewing excpet her own blankets and toys but thats fine after all they are hers :D oh and sticks what is it with sticks, she brings them hom strips and eats the bark then leaves them in the garden until she wants a chew!!
