Claire there are loads of these going around.  One I heard when I was younger was:-
A woman was travelling to her boyfriends house and had to stop because there was something obtructing the road.  She drove a little closer and saw a pram in the middle of the road.  She got out to investigate and found it empty so she moved the pram to the side of the road.  Meanwhile a car had approached and started to flash its lights causing her a little alarm.  she quickly got back into her car.  The vehicle behind kept flashing his lights so she locked her doors and drove.  She phoned her significant other to let him no this man in a vauxall was chasing her flashing his lights tooting etc trying to get her to pull over.  He told her to drive straight to his home where he was waiting.  Sure enough the car was still behind her when she stopped he stopped.  He ran out of the car shouting  a man jumped into the rear of your car.  Sure enough he was there,  got out and ran.

Much as they are timely reminders to be careful, you are all still reacting to urban legends ;-)  www.urbanlegends.com/ulz/xkitbs.html
