I finally got round to seeing a behaviourist about Rocky (16 mnth JRT) who I thought had a nervous type of aggression, as he would go mental at any dogs he saw, and we couldn't get him tot walk to heel. Walkies were an absolute nightmare, and I'd often come home close to tears.
Anyway, we saw Ian, the behaviourist, last night and he took down everything to do with Rockys history, and deducted that he is not aggressive. He reckons it's something to do with Rox having a conflict going on in his mind as to chase the other dog, or to submit. (I can't explain properly, but he made it sound very understanding, and made perfect sense) It's a case of getting Rocky to understand what is expected of him.
So Ian starts walking Rocky in the arena and within 2 mins of his walking he was walking beautifully. There was even another dog sitting at the side waiting, and Rocky did start barking, and going crazy, but the guy just ignored and continued with him getting him to walk to heel. After a few mo's, Rocky was too busy concentrating on the job in hand to take any further notice of this dog. :) :) He looked soooooo happy and proud of his little self :)
We're to continue practising this then take him back in 2 weeks when a stooge dog will join us in the arena.
I had him out this morning, and he was wonderful !!!! Needed a few little corrections but he is soo much happier himself now that he knows what is expected of him.
I just wanted to share this with you all as I am sooo very happy.........and I've def learnt the importance of consistency :)
I feel as if I'm getting somewhere now, and Rocky most certainly is....... :)

Thanks guys, I just KNEW you'd understand how I was feeling :)
Rocky really is excellent in every way...he's very obediant and loving, such a happy little boy, but apart from his going crackers at dogs. But yes, we're getting somewhere with him now.
Makes me feel really proud of us both. :)
I paid £15 for 30 mins.....is this a good price???? It's an excellent price to me, as it's working. :)
Think he knows I'm talking about him, as he's jumped up on my knee for a\ cuddle....makes typing very difficult :D
I am soo happy with Rocky, and have Henry basset enrolled for obediance (can you train a basset?? :D )training on the 21st this mnth, so am finally getting both my dogs sorted...and it makes me feel so much better.
Thanks for sharing my happiness guys :) :)
