Yes its possible that she can be pregnant from such a young male, and dogs can get pregnant without actually making a tie.
I would get your friend to take the dog to be spayed and have any possible pups aborted, or of course theres the injection.
Dean
Yes, there is every chance of her being pregnant. I would advise your neighbours to see a vet as soon as poss.
The lurcher owners should also be made aware, if poss, that they can be charged with allowing the dog to be out of their control in a public place. If he's jumped once he'll do it again, and again. ;) Well, wouldn't you? :D

They could report it to the local dog warden, if the owners of the Lurcher cannot keep their dog indoors.
Your nieghbour has three choices
1) get her dog spayed
2) take her for an injection
3) let her dog have a possible litter of x breed pups (which i do not recommend)
But if your nieghbour knew that her BC was in season, why on earth were they not watching her?, if they knew this dog was roaming around?
Dean

I would report the dog since he is at large, and why not have the pups aborted. She is way way to young to have puppies, it's only her first heat she is still a baby herself. Having babies so young she may not grow properly either. Guess we can all hope that he has only blanks right now, fingers crossed. :(

She has a 6ft fence on a 1ft gravel board around her garden and thought she'd be ok i've rang her and shes going totake her to the vets tommorow and see what the vet says and is going to report the dog to the dog warden

My lot (apart from my Bulldogs) could easily scale a 6ft fence, no problem.
Its amazing what a male dog can do when he smells a bitch in heat, ive known dogs chew through gates and all sorts of things trying to get to a bitch in heat.

I had a young Springer bitch many years ago who ate her way out of her kennel, and a local border collie ate his way into the run, all in the space of an hour or so. I found them tied, turned and very self-satisfied. She was 10 months old at the time (don't know about the BC) - her tail didn't stop wagging for an hour, and she always had a soft spot for BC's afterwards. Needless to say I got her jabbed the next morning as soon as the vet was open.
It can happen to anyone - where there's a will, there's a way, and none of us are perfect.
