ive got a bitch im hoping shes pregnant she will be due soon.
her back nipples look swollen,her stomach looking alot bigger but i cant feel any movement??
she wont leave me alone every where i go she sits at my feet,
she didnt tie but the dogs thingy came right out im hoping that a slip mating happened..
is it possible ?????

If your bitch is due soon, she should be showing signs of movement within. If she isn't, like you say, she may be having only a small litter or none at all, but instead be showing signs of a phantom pregnancy. It is possible that your girl is pregnant even though a tie did not occur. These kind of matings are surprisingly successful. In any case, as your girl nears, if she is pregnant, she should show signs of nesting, as in digging in the dirt or carpet, tearing at her blankets or papers, anything like that. You should have her sleeping in a comfortable whelping box by now. She may also stop eating her food a few days or even a few hours before whelping. My girl stopped eating only twelve hours before she gave birth. She also vomitted often. When the tenth arrives and your girl vomits, get ready. Also, her being clingy towards you is a sign. I think many bitches are scared and only want their alphas for comfort. Just comfort your girl as much as you can and try not to act stressed or anything, she will sense it and will also become stressed. Just keep calm. Now, your girl might not even show any of these signs; she hasn't read the books, has she? Just let nature take its course and just be ready and prepared. Have all your supplies handy, as well as your vet's phone number. Good luck when the time comes!

hi, if my bitch is pregnant and carrying them high in ribs would she look any bigger in rib area or not?? cause i think she looks more stockier???
but i dont suppose she could get bigger around ribs as there bone??
also what would her nipples actually look like at this stage ?? her nipples themselfs are bit bigger but the back 4 are sagging a bit like swelling arond the tops of them ??
would her nipples feel hard or soft? sorry this is my 1st time well its the 3rd season weve been trying.
but never thought she was or could be like this time she just seems to have right symptoms.i did panic though when about 3 or 4 weeks after mating she had a mucasy slimey clear discharge hanging from her vulva only noticed it the once do you have any idea what that could be???

One of the first signs that my bitch was pregnant was when she 'blew' her ribs, and took on the shape of a barrel! The times that she had been mated and 'missed', she didn't do this, although she did produce milk at the appropriate time. So if your girl is anything like mine then yes, she's pregnant.

thanks for replying so they do look bigger in the ribs??im not just imagining it then lol.
when should they be producing milk?its only her back 4 nipples that are sagging at moment the others are pink and larger but not sagging yet? some days she looks really fat in stomach and hasnt got her tuck then other days she doesnt look as fat but still hasnt got tuck oh i dont know shes due on 10th of this month well thats her 63rd day any way . ive got her bed all set out and a heat lamp ready just in case she is fingers cross.please reply thanks jo

Will you not find whis a bit stressful during christmas?

well at 1st i thought it would be fine as watching so many dogs at work having pups. just thought christmas day they aint going to be running around causing havoc yet and thinking shes due 10th so i can get caught up on sleep between then and christmas lol.
knowing my luck mitz probably will refuse to feed them so ill be up every 2 hours or so having to feed them all over christmas lol..
no the panic is setting in now and a nervous feeling aswell but can only wait and see ill keep you informed though thats if shes pregnant? thanks for that though.   jo

I had one bitch who dripped milk for a few days before she whelped, and another who waited till after the first pup was born to produce any! So it's a case of wait-and-see which one she will be - maybe even something in between!

When she's resting,can you feel movement inside her yet?

no not moving only like a clicking inside her tummy or a rumble lol but she likes being stroked on her tummy when im feeling she turns over so i can feel better??? my son come up a bit ago to say he tried to play with her which he always does and she growled at him shes never done that she follows him every where when he comes home from school she goes wappy etc. he can walk her of lead she worships him normally ??? if she aint pregnant id like to know what is the matter with her ?????/  jo

If she's not pregnant,then she's probably going through a phantom. You'll know in a week which it is. Of course if you're worried about her, a vet's visit is called for.

i took my Stafford bitch to the vet cos she was 4 days late from the second mating, and he was very please to tell me that she was not in whelp and she was not having a phantom either, My bitch was very small in the belly and this was her first litter, 3 days after going to the vet she had a healthy litter of 5 puppies, she had kept them up in her ribs right up until the end, her ribs were bigger (a lot bigger in the last few days) and she had milk from about 57 days onwards so fingers crossed for your girl

i am also going though it with you as my bitch is about 5 weeks (i hope) nipples are a little bit pinker and her belly is a little bit bigger i will be taken her for a scan next week cos she only had a slip mating

thought that i would say that the vet was a locum not my normal one :)

Sachiko tied with max,but still went through a phantom,nothing different,she had the weight gain ,the milk,nesting etc.My hubby kept saying she wasn't but even vet didn't know for sure.When she went over 70 days,I took all the toys off her,cut her food and stopped pampering her,she soon returned to normal and went on to have a normal pregnancy with a litter of 4 very healthy monsters  6 months later :D sandra.

being really thick now but what and where are her mammary glands because they swell but im not sure what and where they are to check.
my partner says that my girl aint pregnant shes just fat because he cant feel anything either?
but he did say about her nipples looking bigger and pink and shes acting weird??
think he might just be preparing me if she aint pregnant as he knows how excited iam and nervous but i can do it ive helped at work with 6 bitches in the last 2 months but its different this is my baby now if she is that is

             just countedAGAIN i keep counting lol shes 59 days thats from when i last mated her...breasticles are then the bits that are sagging above her nipples???tell you what they look like they look like when a bitch has had her pups and there nipples sag, but its only her back 4 that are doing it??? the other ones are just bigger nipples not sagging????i feed her thursday she normally will eat a bit then eat rest later but she didnt eat any then yesterday gave it back to her she had a bit more i left it with her last night she ate a bit more so ive chucked it now, so ill try her with a different one she has different tinned food and different flavours as i like to change her so she dont get bored? mind you the one she has been liking the last couple of weeks is the one thats in a sausage with herbs and that in it, she never used to like it, so think ill get her that one today??thanks again

               mitz was just laying on me and i think i felt some thing in her ribs at 1st i thought no just her heart but i put my arms around her ribs and im sure im not imagining it can feel like movement like something pushing going to get my partner to feel when he gets home but i really did feel something im sure but i want my partner to check as dont want to think im feeling something just cause i want her to be pregnant but i am certain though ill let you know what he says                                                   jo

                 mitz acting really restless tonight she cant get comfy and she seems to be drinking alot of water and she just sat at my feet whining then jumped on my little boys knee and layed down?????could this still possibly be a phantom or is it that she is near to have pups???? shes only 59 days?? there due wednesday well thats her 63rd day any way would she start feeling uncomfitable now as time near??? any comments would be gratefull

63 days is the rough estimate but could be 5 days either way. So anytime between 58 and 68 days. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Its horrible when you are not sure if its a phantom or not. I thought mine was a phantom. Vet could not feel anything at 6 weeks and was not as big as she thought she should be at that stage, but now shes 56+ days and has suddenly gots lots bigger in the last week and the puppies are moving all the time. Hope all goes well and yours is pregnant. Keep us posted.

           well today is day 60 she hasnt ate nothing today shes just benn sleeping but very riggly cant get comfy i even tried to tempt her with her sunday dinner which she nevers misses, yes i dish her a sunday dinner up she loves it lol...
but nothing she had few mouthfuls and went back to lye down so could this be it tomorrow sometime??? i know they say they go of food 24 hours before, im just waiting for her to go loo so i can see if its runny as that also happens to empty system before having them..shes not showing no nesting behavior though she just wants to lay with us all time follows us every where still not sure if i can feel anything yet though aswell so could be phantom i hope not though she looks really large today considering she had nothing to eat aswell,shes laying downstairs on my partner at mo. snoring really loud but eyes open???

          just let mitz out to go toilet and noticed where she'd been laying there was little wet patches obviously from her vulva it was like that snotty mucasy clear stuff she had when 3 weeks or so after mating not alot about 4 little patches???? does this mean any thing???in her self she just looks tierd and dozy and keeps sighing every so often like shes fed up???/?
well my partner staying down stairs with her tonight as hes not working tomorrow im gonna go bed but hes gonna wake me if anything as ive got work but if nothing tonight then looks like im off work rest of week???? i go work at 6.45am my partner goes at 8.30 when working then ive been coming home in my dinner at 12 checking then i finish at 2.45 but my boss knows i want time of when or if she goes in labour ill keep u informed ...

If your girl is about to have puppies, please dont leave her. I have saved many a puppy by just being on hand to clear mucas from the mouth. Plus keeping them nice and warm with the heat lamps. Also not all mothers know what to do ? They desert the first few then it can be too late to save them.
Good luck and let us know what she has and what breed she is. Very exciting having new babies.

i own three staffs, and my 2 bitches showed completely different symptoms

my first bitch showed all the classic signs of being in pup,and on or around the 50 day i could feel movement. keeping my fingers crossed that she would be alright either way, and counting the days away. upon going to her whelping box she had given birth to 4 puppies(1 still born), to say i was amazed is an under-statement, she had only gone 57 days!!

my second bitch
showed now signs what so ever until she was 57 days gone, then upon seeing her on that morning everything showed at once, her teats-mammery glands-even down to an excessive sack of fluid over the top of her vulva.the following morning(58 days) she gave birth to 7 puppies(1 still born)

so you see, you can never take anything for granted.GOOD LUCK

     mitz is on her 61st day today .when i say her vulva swollen its the top bit that i noticed swollen she isnt doing anything out of the norm today no indications of giving birth,just pot belly,swollen back 4 teats, did urs look alot bigger in the ribs as she does she looks alot stockier ,

Jo,I gave chiko to day 70 and kept in touch with vet,then I took the toys from her and stopped mollycoddling her,2 weeks later she was almost back to normal,sandra.

        i think she must be having a phantom as tuesday night my boyfriend stayed downstairs with her and she got up on my sofa and started digging at corner?
when i got up for work she was ok then wednesday night she kept sitting at my feet whining and didnt know what to do with herself and tried to get under my sofa which is only 2cm gap lol. when she finally fell asleep she was really twitching  and breathing funny but nothing else she hasnt ate for 2 days now but nothing else happening today she just seems tierd and sleeping alot??
today is day 64 so i would of thought her being 1st time mum she would of had them earlier rather then later..
my book came today book of the bitch,every one goes on about it so i ordered it so i can have a read,ill keep you all informed but i think its a phantom ,thanx for asking every one ill have to try next season if nothing happens

Jo,Chiko was more frantic during her phantom than she was during the real thing,she tried to get under the bed and scraped the wallpaper in my newly decorated room!!!When she had the pups she was calm,laid back,gave 2 scrapes of the vet bed ,a grunt and there was the first pup!!Hope all is well for your bitch,sandra.

                  sorry havent been able to get on pc as partner been on it,well mitzy seems alright no other signs shes eating again didnt guard all her toys her nipples look like there going down and the saggy bits have gone so think thats it now.she is fine in herself nothing abnormal so think she must of had a bit of a phantomas today is dayy 66 now, so im just going to wait till next time and hopefully see a tie this time as the last 3 times ive never had a tie but this time i really thought she was pregnant as didnt have all this behaviour last time,oh well she should come back in season in march time so ive got plenty of time to get my head in this book (book of the bitch)lol hope every one else is fine and there dogs ill keep reading thanx for all info. you have all gave                                                                                                                                                                                                                 jo
