After taking my 5 month lab pup to puppy/dog training classes (10 mins away) I arrived to find she had very quitely chewed half of the lining of my boot so I`m going to have to get her a crate. The one I had got her for the car doesn`t fit because it only has 1 end door and doesn`t fit in length ways. I`ve seen one on ebay which is cheap but i`m unsure  of what the smallest size i would get away with.
Any ideas please. What size would anyone buy for a car which would do for a fully grown lab please? She won`t be in it for long car journeys? The one I`ve got for the house is large and is smashing. Thanks a lot.

Hi sorry i can't help with your post but it reminded me of Buddy (when he was much younger). I noticed lots of small round white things in his poo (there were loads of them). He is my first dog and i had not seen worms before so was not sure that that is what they were. Asked loads of people for advice (this was before joining C-Dogs). I remember saying to one doggy owning friend that they looked like tiny clusters of polesterene balls but they could'nt be could they! . A few days passed and i decided to remove my god sons toddler seat from the rear of the car and low and behold there was chunks of polesterene missing. Mystery solved.
Hope someone comes along with some constructive advice for your problem. I just felt like sharing that little puppy tale.

How long is a piece of string Hilary? To find out what size will fit in your car, you'll have to measure to max. height (remembering that the opening will be lower than the roof & max. width & depth. If it's not going to be big enough for a Lab, not much point in buying one. Why don't you go for a dog guard & tailgate (Mine's from Barjo) You can get a pretty tough bootliner, but I can't remember what it's called. Hopefully she'll grow out of chewing, but while she's at it, watch your seatbelts (won't pass MOT even if they are just a little bit frilly) & any electrics behind the lining of the tailgate.
Can't you tell, it's the voice of experience talking?

hi sorry didn`t explain this at all well, was in a great panic last night when I wrote this. What I meant to say was.... what size crate could a fully grown lab fit in. The crate that would fit in my car is 30 " long x 22"w x 23" H. I`ve just inspected the damage and it isn`t as bad as I feared....If you can call a carry bag of small foam pieces not as bad as you feared !!!!!
Could have a lot worse I know.

A crate should generally be large enough to accommodate the dog when it is fully grown. height wise i should have thought that the size you mention should be fine.......though you could email or phone some of the crate manufacturers for their suggestions.  I got mine from barjo.
