I am entering my dog in crufts. As he will be 12 1/2 months come March, I presumed he would have to go in Junior class, just missing out in Puppy class. But when I've gone on to fossedata, and looked at the schedule, it says puppy class is up to 14 months, is that right, or am I looking at the wrong thing. Also they call it special puppy and special junior, is it just the same thing. I'm getting a bit confused
Also I've only ever entered Toesy in the one class before (minor or puppy) Do you think I should put him in more than one class at crufts, If so should it be his own class, say puppy, then the one above, junior. Or should I put him in something like novice. Sorry for being so dumb ;)
Michelle.

Any class which is "special" is so called because it's a different definition to that which is laid down by the KC. KC definition of a puppy class is "any dog under 12 months of age" (I'm abbreviating), but a Special class (as the Crufts class) has a different definition, in this case (haven't looked) 8-14 months. This is because the latest puppies can usually qualify for Crufts in December, so many would otherwise miss out.
Up to you what classes you put him in, depends on you & on the breed. Personally, I wouldn't put him in Junior as the competition may be quite strong (you can enter a Champion in junior) & there's a lot of difference in maturity between a 12 month old & an 18 month old. JMO. If you want to put him in 2, how about Sp. puppy & novice?
Whatever you do - enjoy your day!!!
