Since my husband became disabled things have become quite tight with money.
Fortunatly we live only 5 min away from a Mcdonalds on one side of the road and Wimpy on the other so I can regulary find burger pieces for our GSD, thank heavens I supplement it with some barley soup but he always seems hungry and whines sometimes. can anyone please tell me if they know of any dog charity which gives free food if someone is in distress,
Much appreciated.

I hate to say this, but if the money situation is going to be permanent, I think your dog should be re-homed. It will be the kindest thing you can do for him. Thats not a healthy diet for him.

I agree.
Is this whats referred to as a WUM :( If money is so tight that you need to feed a Shepherd scraps from Mc Donalds and 'Barley Soup' :eek
Perhaps you should ask yourself whether it would be kinder to re home him to someone who can afford to feed him correctly.
If you are genuine poster why not feed him good old fashioned 'Green Tripe' and mixer, he would then cost you the grand total of about 50p a day.

Just wondering since your hubby is disabled can you not work?

How do you support urself if you have no money coming in, humans have to eat tooo? Can you not find a relative to take in your dog till you get back on your feet?
maybe her husband needs caring for.....not much help to him if she is out at work

I'm sorry but I think this is a troll :(
If I'm wrong then...
Get down to your local benefits office and find out if you are receiving all you are entitled to. Even on income support with disability living allowance you should be able to feed your dog with a decent quality dry food.
If you really can't cope then rehome the dog.

My daughter is disabled i can't work(my husband does but money is tight) but it doesn't mean our dog starves. We feed a dane for gawds sake (and not on big macs either).

Definitely one of those hairy things that lives under the billy goats gruff's bridge ;)
As for the story about hubby being disabled and them having to feed scraps, my partner is going blind and had to give up work. I stay and home and take care of him and 3 kids. We get disability benefits for him, and money for us. Not the ideal situation, granted, I miss my work, but we can blinkin' well afford to feed Ruby NatureDiet, the cats have Nutro and we still feed/clothe the kids. Money isnt rolling in, but we're lucky to get what we do - which is more than many get for working (yes I am ashamed of that, but I cant change it). So that's how I know this is a troll. :)

Totally agree. This person must be a troll.
I'm on incapacity benefits (split pelvis and on crutches) and my husband at the moment has had to give up his job to help me with the triplets (cause of said split pelvis!).
Now we get enough money to get by, yes things can be tight, but we're talking money for clothes and things - bills, our food and dog supplies always come first. ;)
You can't be that skint if you can afford internet access - which is at least £10 a month which could be going towards dog food.
Sorry but I think you're a phoney!
Lisa.

If you can't afford to feed your dog, what will you do about your next vet bill!

Hi all I have heard it all now, think you had better rehome the poor dog before he starves to death or succumbs to major illness through lack of proper nourishment which you will not be able to afford do yourselves and the dog a favour and let him go, I was reading your other posts about haltis and you said that you ran training courses, so therefore you should be clued up on things like nutrition, surely then even you must agree that hanburger pieces and barley are not suitable for any dog

And where have the posts about Halti gone.

I wondered that as well maybe they should sell the computer and buy some dog food or at least give the internet up then maybe they can do the dog some justice PLEASE GET YOUR PRIORITES RIGHT or if you cant face that then let him go to someone who can
