I have a 18 week old black labrador and whilst walking it someone said it had Sandringham trait. Can someone tell me what this means?

Frankly no, did you not ask?

Sandringham is an affix and a Regal one at that, so what they are saying is that your Lab is typical of the Sandringham type. King George V bred Labs under the affix 'Wolferton'  but took over 'Sandringham' when his mother died. The Queen is the patron of the Labrador Club and owns Labs of Sandringham breeding and I believe still breeds the occasional litter under this affix.
So lucky you if your Lab is, dig out the pedigree.
Regards, Debbie.

:D What a nice thing to hear about your dog :)

It might be a regal affix, but it didn't stop 6 of them being in lab rescue when I did it, 2 of them were gun shy too!

That really is interesting - Purdey has SANDRINGHAM SAILOR in her pedigree (forget whether it is ggrandparent or gggrandparent - but as she has got older (now 13.5 years) - she is increasingly reluctant to go out when she can hear gunshots - be it pidgeon scarers or the clay pigeon shoot on a Sunday morning!

Her neice, who carries the same line, is going along the same path!!!

Needless to say - they are OUR royalty - and you won't find them in Rescue ......although Gypsy did find herself in the custody of the local Dog Warden last year, having "taken off" after interesting scents just as she had come out of "chokey" as her season ended....... thank heavens for micro-chipping - and also knowing the Dog Warden!!
