At 6 weeks old she has no idea where to go to the loo ..she also has no control over her bowel and bladder as yet. Your job as a new owner is to teach her what is and isn't acceptable :) You cannot tie her up outside , she will be being punished for something she can't help :) She will be unable to hold on until the morning at the moment she is far too small. You can shut the crate door at night but make sure you have a crate large enough for half to have paper in so she can pee or poo on it

As soon as she wakes up , take her outside and tell her to hurry up. When she does a wee give her loads of praise. IF she has an accident inside , just pick her up and gently put her outside and tell her to hurry up until she does a wee. You will need to take (not PUT ..but take) her outside every 15-25 minutes , every time she has a drink or eats something and every time you see her circling like she needs to go.

The more persistant and gentle you are , the sooner she will realise that peeing outside is a Good Thing ;)

Mel, I think the poster was saying they would *try* her outside, not *tie* her up. :)

I agree with Mel, as soon as she wakes take her out and give her a command to go to the toilet ("hurry up", "do a wee" or something like that) and loads of praise when she does one. I would use paper for night time in her crate but during the day I think it's best to take her out very frequently and get her to do it out there otherwise you're training her to go on paper then having to retrain her to go outside. Ignore any accidents inside otherwise she'll think you're punishing her just for weeing. As Mel said, she won't last all night without weeing so if she cries, take her outside for a wee and praise her for it, then put her back in her crate quietly with no speaking or fussing, then she'll hopefully settle again quickly. :)
