hi
my puppy is digging a lot inside ie digging on the pillow - he loves it but should i be stopping him ?
He aslo has quite a lot of sleep/discharge in corners of eyes.. is this normal?
last question - i am still trying to house train and from time to time willl take him to my mum's house.. is it very confusing/unsettling to continue trying to house train in a different house.
your advice is most appreciated.
thanks
Niki
Hi Niki
I would discourage his "digging" as this is a sure way to wreck bedding (and chairs if he happens to decide to sleep on them).
Is he teething? This often causes a lot of muck in the corners of eyes. If it is greyish and the eyes don't look inflamed I would not worry too much unless it is very excessive or goes on for a while. It if is whiteish or yellowy then get him checked over.
It is useful to housetrain in other peoples houses as they learn that the rules are the same everywhere.

Hi Kerioak Why does teething cause grey matter in the corner of the eyes? Have you any idea. Just curious really. My pup`s really bad at the moment. She`s 5 months and teething with a vengence!!!

Hi Hilary
I have no idea! Teething affects the eyes (mucky) and ears (they go up, down, back anything but what you want them to do as an adult).
You can rinse the eyes out with a few drops of cold tea (no milk or sugar). Make a cup of tea and before you add anything to the cup but the water and tea bag remove the tea bag and put it in the fridge, you can then use this to clean the eyes

Christine, isn't it the same sort of thing that affects children when teething - the roots of the teeth are in the same area as the sinuses, which drain into the tear ducts and the ear canals - the tooth errupting causes inflamation in the sinuses, which drains into the ear and eye....?
Hi Digger, that sounds logical. It is one of those things I have just accepted happens without thinking about why! Unusual where I am concerned :)

Ah ..... the ears! I was wondering why my 17 week Dobe's ears were behaving strangely at times...
( looking as if he was caught by a freak gust of wind!!) I presume it's the cartilage growing & developing. Will his ears be OK as an adult- sitting beautifully and symmetrically?
I will try the cold tea as he's also got gunky non inflammed eyes.
Thanks
